Your sketches are amazing! Are you able do draw cityscapes from imagination? I mean... making this much drawing from photos and life helps to build visual and muscle memory, to later be able to crate cenes from the nothingness?

Thank you. I occasionally scribble some buildings when I'm doodling, but I haven't tried to draw a cityscape from imagination. There are certain things you become familiar with - street clutter, vehicles, architectural features - which you can replicate, so it should be easier because of the themes I commonly draw, but I like to represent places I've been so haven't gone in for fictive cities.

do you normally draw from a photo reference or just do it while your on site?

Just about everything posted here is from my own photo reference. I rarely have the time whilst travelling to actually stay in one place long enough to draw.

Thanks! I'm most at home with a pen (pigment ink) and paper, and Indian ink for washes, but play around with Photoshop and Illustrator every now and then when I want something in colour - I'm not much for traditional media colouring (as in I'm not much good at it).

you're welcome, i really enjoy your landscapes i think they're very sensitive and show a great understanding of space. Keep it up. Also, have you thought about using both ink wash and hatch in the same drawing? It might led somewhere interesting

I've maybe tried it a couple of times - partly the problem is doing both is so time consuming, and the line can get lost under the ink. Thanks for the kind words.
