As for hands, practice. Although i'm sure you've heard that one before. hehe. For originality, I should say something like "steal some hands" but i dun feel like being morbid today..and yeah, i'm ranting. =_= sowwy.

I use my own hands as models but it's hard enough that almost allways the hand I want is my right and I'm right-handed. Drive? I've got plenty of that but I don't use half of it
I do usually use other works as a reference such as certain poses, so you might notice some correlations.
