I got 'into' them *after* MS bought them, so I became a fan from how they are currently (since viva pinata at least) not how they were in the past 
Granted i play BK on XBLA far more than I do Nuts & Bolts or VP, but thats because im too lazy to switch disks.

Every dev has its stinkers, especially if theyre dealing with a launch title. Its easier to ignore bad reviews of stuff like that than obvious shovelware though tbh, even that has its place from the point of view as a noob trying to get in there.
My taste as a gamer is different from what I would happily be paid to work on to get my foot in the door. Getting an interview with Rare is awesome because i like their games just as much as id like to work for em

I sent my portfolio in back in july or something, after tweetlord, and got a ' sorry but we're full of artists atm' response. I'm guessing that theyre grabbing people in again now because of Natal, since they were after designers the other month, so either I was picked off the pile or I was noticed through twitter. I've been following Rare on there for a while now, taking part in competitions, replying to tweets etc, cant say part of that wasnt to try and get noticed
