Born to Athena and Triton, Ariel is the youngest princess among her six other sisters. Their whole family has always shared a mutual understanding for their love of music, composing and singing. Unfortunately, they had had to live in silence after an incident, in which their mother died during one of their many visits to the surface. Triton could not get over his sorrow of his dead wife and banned everything from the kingdom, which would remind him of Athena. Although he was able to recover from his unhappiness with the help of his daughters, he is still hostile towards humans and everything, which is made by them. This belief is burned deep into his memory and he demands his daughters to keep away from them at all costs. In fear of losing them the same way, as he lost his wife.

As the youngest, Ariel naturally wishes to stand out among her other sisters. She is rebellious and sees every rule her father comes up with as a challenge to break it for her own enjoyment. Since she is the last in the devolution of the crown, she sees little reason in holding on tight to traditions, which get into her way. She loves exploring, collecting items she finds on the surface or sunk ship wrecks, as well as watching humans dance and celebrate.

Ariel is stubborn, reckless, naive, rebellious, adventurous, curious, honest and gullible. Despite the evidence brought up by her father against the good nature of humans she faithfully believes in, she is unwilling to believe that they are even half as bad, as he says. Her curiousity for everything coming from the world of humans has subsisted since her early teens. The actual wish to become human herself has first manifested upon seeing prince Eric celebrate his birthday and declare his independence to his very understanding servant. Unfortunately, she trusts Ursula with her request, as she readily offers to help her for a price. The show down of it all has brought Ariel and her father closer together and strengthened Triton's trust in not only his daughter, but also into the good nature of mankind.

Tadashi had just finally gotten used to his tail. Hiro and Arthur were off doing their own thing right now, playing some sort of game, but he'd decided to go and explore--after all, he only had limited time being like this (Merlin didn't let his "lessons" go on for too long) and he wanted to make the most of it!

Ariel was close to Tadashi, but quite occupied examining a little metal tool she found in yet another ship wreck. "What do you think this is?" She inquired, showing it to flounder. "A tiny trident maybe?" - "Oh! Maybe.." She said, storing it away in her bag quickly as she could see another merman in the distance.

"Whoa..." Tadashi's eyes go wide when he sees the young woman with the long red hair and the green tail. Wait, was that an actualΒ mermaid?"

Ariel itched a little closer, gradually getting to the point where she could tell that she had never seen this merman before. She eyed him, her lips curling in thought. It wasn't difficult to notice the way he was staring and it made her a little uneasy, but not less curious. "Who are you?" She inquired. "It doesn't seem like you're from around here.."

"Oh, um... Hi?" Tadashi manages to get out--wow, this was a real mermaid. A flippin' actual mermaid! He hadn't even known that those existed in the real world--did they still exist in his own time period, or had pollution and other horrible things led to their extinction? All good questions, but for right now, he needed to answer the girl properly. "I-I'm Tadashi--Tadashi Hamada," he says (he was still getting the hang of talking underwater.) "And no, I'm definitely not from around here..."Β

Ariel swam around him, examining him briefly, before she stopped in front of him, looking him directly into the face. "Where are you from then?" She asked. "This is the kingdom of Atlantica, are there others?" She didn't actually know about any, but was intrigued by the thought that there might be.

"U-um... Honestly I'm not sure," Tadashi admits. "I haven't exactly been mer for very long--I'm actually human, I live in a city called San Fransokyo."Β

"What?!" She exclaimed, suddenly overly excited as she moved even closer to she could get a better first impression of him. "A human, really? What are you doing down here then?" Ariel inquired, looked around him as if she hoped to spot the reason there, then looked back at him. "How is it in San Fransokyo?"

"Oh, um--well, as to why I'm here, a wizard turned me and my brother and my friend, Arthur, into mers for a little bit so we could see what it's like," Tadashi answers. "And as for how it is in San Fransokyo... I'm not really sure how to even begin describing it..."

"A wizard?" She asked, her eyes slowly but steadily growing to the size saucers. "Do you think this spell could work the other way around too?" Ariel watched him for a moment, then she said; "Anywhere will be fine! What's the most remarkable thing to know about?"

"I, um... I suppose you could ask him, although usually he only does short term transformations," Tadashi says uncertainly. "And, um... Well, I guess to start with it's a big city--a very big city, with a lot of really tall buildings... Um, it's pretty well known for it's advances in technology--I go to school at the Institute of Technology there with my brother and my friends and we're all learning to become better inventors or chemists or whatever else it is that we're trying to be."

Ursula throws a few potions into her cauldron to see what Ariel is up to, feeling sore over her lover impaling her with a ship she's out for revenge and watches as an image or Ariel appears before her

Ariel was skipping a little through the grass, carrying around a cat she'd found in the backyard of the castle earlier. The feline didn't seem overly amused, but also wasn't making an effort to get away.

Ariel smooched the cat happily, then sat it back down. "I hope you'll come back sometime..~" Then she busied herself with wandering around the gardens, occassionally inspecting some of the blooming flowers.

The plants seemed so full of life, one particularly large flower caught her attention

Ariel walked over to the larger flower, crouching down in front of it with fascination. "I wonder what kind this one is.. I should as Carlotta."

Ariel's eyes widened in surprise. "Well, that seems a little strange.." She thought aloud and went ahead to touch it.
