Joined just to share a link of whiney arguing with a lawyer.Β Lawyer even says he can't copyright a process.Β His design yes, but not the process.Β Guys a jerk and everyone should know how to make all crafts!Β I actually sell PB's on eBay (same username) and would love to send you some free beads if you teach me how to make cases. (tried to post a link but then the post thingy said I might be posting spam).Β Just google perler lighter cases lawyer copyright and you will see him.. he was being a jerk to even people helping him for free!!!

But I will teach you how to make them free of charge. The tutorial is a little small due to Pinterest not letting you zoom, but it's there.Β
WOW. It's actually been removed from Pinterest as well. This is ridiculous. Well, I'm trying to upload a video tutorial in the mean time. I'm going to make it clear that this is a tutorial for ALL lighters, not just BIC, which would make the copyrighted design null and void. And I'm going to make it clear that the video is showing the process. I may not be able to sell these, but he can't say no one is allowed to MAKE them. Seriously, it's monopolization, and it's total bull.Β
Also, just wanted to say that I appreciate your service to the country, and I really enjoy your cause, helping vets through crafts and what not. Very cool. ^_^

A lot of sites get jumpy when someone starts bellowing about a copyright infringement because true infringements can end up costing everyone a lot (napster?).Β They take stuff down and wait for the defense later.Β Just like that lawyer said: "usually the threat of a lawyer is enough to enforce your claim."

Honestly though, the process can't be copyrighted.Β A particular design, yes, but not a process - that's a *patent*.Β And anything to do with PBs, Hamas, etc fall under THEIR patents (or expired patents).Β Β He has aΒ copyrightΒ to name and branding and distinctive designs, but that is it.Β (btw to all artists: your work is always auto-copyrighted - the registration process just makes enforcement easier).

Final point:Β The irony is that he is claiming a copyright infringement while BLANTENTLY infringing on Nintendo's and other people's copyrights.Β Link, Mario, Superman et al are all copyrighted - but the companies really don't care to enforce unless you start selling brick and mortar.Β So let's talk pots and kettles....

I would add a notice in whatever you do going further to explain what you are about to share is being claimed by one aggressive part as a copyright, but isn't, "so please share as much as possible" and any organizations should contact you first before taking any action as there has been zero infringement.

For anyone interested in anything Perler related (for example, the Pokemon love note Perlers), I highly recommend Ryan (that's this guy). He's super speedy and efficient and super understanding.
