Yes of course! I love meeting and welcoming new people to dA ("fresh meat" I call them ), especially if I like their art, like in your case.

Man, I remember when I first started dA and only two people ever looked or commented on my stuff. And it was only because they were already my friends and I told them about my page. o.o 'course my art sucked then too, and if I still had any of it posted, you'd see what I mean. (My art improves kinda slowly, since I'm 100% self-tought... o.o)
