youre welcome I am currently in a fine arts academy for bachelors degree i have been doing this fro three years in college and still not as good as you. Β hear is my flikr site of my better work.Β www.flickr.com/photos/68230466β¦ Β as you can see i am bad at photography. do you make art for a living?

I went to your flickr site and viewed your work. Some of it is rather good especially your life drawing studies. Best advice, slow it down and draw more from what you are looking at rather than what you think you know - don't guess. Study anatomy everyday for a half hour. Three more years and I think you will be really on your way. And yes, I make art for a living.

thanks I know thats what i have to do, all my professors are saying that. they also told me to draw from life not from photo. I dont have my own model and going to the sketch clubs plastic clubs and pen and brush clubs get quite expensive, it is 3$per 3 hours. I cant draw from life after class. if i am aiming for photo-realism there is nothing wrong wrong from photos right? I draw alot from photos at home, i really like drawing from photos. recently i have gone to college and drew more from still life but i want to do figure drawing and portraiture more then still life. I am hoping to get a career either in medical illustration or scientific illustration.I just need alot more practice.Β

Use photos to practice, you will learn more and quicker. You don't need to spend all your time drawing from life. Do what you can.

Hey there! You have a really nice work! It's really impressive!
Your studies about Anatomy are really good. Congrats! How do you do the sketches? With references?
Sorry to ask several questions at once!
Anyway, congratulations again!
And sorry about my english! >_<

andrewcox In reply to MarySanttoz [2014-01-02 00:03:01 +0000 UTC]
Hi Mary. I don't use references for my anatomy sketches - it's all done from memory. I used to study every single day and just kept going, continually refining the images I worked on until they looked the way I wanted them to look. And I still study and practice - it's a lifetime habit. I have been doing it since I was fifteen years old.
