WARM? oh gosh haha, what's the coldest weather like? i've been thinking about planning a trip up there, but the weather has got me a little worries

Haha well... The coldest I remember was -55 C. But it's been a couple of years since it got that cold. Any normal winter it gets to about -40 C or so, but it pretty much averages out to -25 or -30 C. Our winters last from October to March, so when it get colds, it usually stays cold for a few weeks, warms up to -20 or -15, sometimes as warm as +5, then gets cold again. Our winters are weird. I recommend a trip in August. Still warm (+15 - +25 usually), but the fall colours start in August, and it's the prettiest time of the year to come see the mountains. We don't usually get snow until October.

-55C?! did you go outside at all that day? oh wow, the coldest i remember it being it toronto was like -27 one day and i thought i was going to literally fall into a coma omg. +15 sounds much warmer, thanks for the recommendation haha

Haha well, the really cold weather is oddly peaceful. Noises are much louder when you are outside, the cold distorts them. You can hear a car coming down the highway and not see it come into view for 15 minutes or more. It's the weirdest thing, but it's hard to describe unless you've experiences it yourself. And it has to be colder than -40 C for the sound to go weird. Really cool, though, and not as cold as it sounds. It's cool to go for walks when it's that cold.
