Staff Sergeant Wesley R. Brewster was born 17 December 1966 in Barbados, West Indies. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1990, went through MEPS at Ft. Hamilton, New York, and reported to recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. After completing Marine Combat Training School (MCT), Camp Geiger, he attended Formal Schools at Marine Corps Detachment, Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland and was assigned the MOS 2131-Towed Artillery Systems Technician. He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal after graduating valedictorian in his class.In June 1991, Lance Corporal Brewster reported to 1st Battalion 10th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as Towed Artillery Systems Technician for Bravo Battery. During this tour he was deployed to the Mediterranean, and participated in Operation Provide Promise. In November 1993 Corporal Brewster was re-assigned to Alpha Battery where he did a unit deployment to Okinawa Japan and was subsequently promoted to Sergeant. In March 1995 Sergeant Brewster reported to 3rd Maintenance Battalion, 3rd FSSG, Okinawa Japan where he served as a 3rd echelon Towed Artillery Systems Technician for Ordnance Maintenance Company, fulfilling the duties as Platoon Sergeant. In March 1996 Sergeant Brewster returned to Camp Lejeune where he served with 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd FSSG, Ordnance Maintenance Company.
After another successful tour, Sergeant Brewster received orders in February 1998 to 1st Battalion, 10th Marines, where he deployed with Charlie Battery to the Mediterranean. In February 1999 Sergeant Brewster reported to I&I Staff Pico Rivera, California, where he served with Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion 14th Marines as Ordnance Chief and Armory Custodian and was consequently promoted to his present rank of Staff Sergeant.
Reporting back to Marine Corps Detachment, Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland in June 2002, he assumed the duties as Course Manager for the 2131- Towed Artillery Systems Technician Course, and highlighting a major achievement he subsequently became a naturalized citizen during this tour on 3 September 2004. In August 2005 Staff Sergeant Brewster reported to 2nd Maintenance Bn, 2nd MLG, Headquarter and service Company where he served as Armory Chief. In August 2008, Staff Sergeant Brewster was assign to his current duty station, The Basic School (TBS), Instructor Battalion, Combat Service Support Company where he served as Maintenance Chief for Artillery Instructor Battery.
Staff Sergeant Brewster’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (six awards), the National Defense Service Medal (two awards), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (five awards) and various service and unit awards.
