Since you're vegan, what's your stance on taxidermy? it'd be interesting to see your views on it

I don't have much of one tbh, since I don't really know much about taxidermy?
I guess so far as collecting materials are concerned, if the animal wasn't killed for the purpose of taxidermy or display then I'm fine with it and might even enjoy it a bit. Generally, I'm not a huge fan of taxidermy but do respect the skill and creativity that it requires.Β
As far as vegans and veganism in general handles taxidermy, when you look at it in a strictly technical sense could be determined as not vegan since it requires the use of animal products. However,Β I do know that there are vegans who like taxidermy.Β Knowing that, in an ethicalΒ context, it can be viewed as vegan so long as the animal didn't endure any cruelty/abuse for the sake of the art. I suppose many vegans who enjoy taxidermy/vegan taxidermists feel that taxidermy in itself is vegan, as it seems common for them to hold the opinion that they are honoring the animal by using its body for art or preserving and remembering the life of an animal that would be forgotten by the world otherwise. That's just what I've gathered from some quick research tho.
If we're just asking the question of whether taxidermy is vegan or not, the simple answer would depend on how the animal died, and then from there it's really a matter of linguistics (defining veganism as either an moral standpoint/lifestyle or simply not using/consuming animal products).
