First time crocheting was in 4th grade and I had to crochet a pumpkin for this class. My mom tried to teach me then, got really frustrated and said I had no talent! 20 years later, I picked it up again, had my mom teach me again, and was told I had no talent AGAIN! But that didn’t stop me, NO! Finally, after much trial and error and many failures, I got the hang of it, and it’s been smooth sailing ever since! Now, I’m constantly thinking what my next crochet project is. I just can’t put it down!!

yesterday I started my first amigurumi, I think I'll be posting a picture tomorrow, but mine doesnt look nearly as perfect and neat as yours

Yay, amigurumi is so much fun! Don't worry if your first few aren't what you expect. It takes a while to get used to. Start with something simple - I used amigurumi books like Ana Paula Rimoli's, they come with pictures and explanations of all the different types of stitches. Once you get the hang of it, and start understanding how to increase and decrease the number of stitches per row to create certain shapes, you can pretty much make whatever you want!
For yarn, my favorite brand is Vanna's choice yarn from Lion brand yarn. It's thick but not too thick, and plushy enough to make your amis soft and squishable. Also, definitely start with a crochet hook that's Size F/3.25mm or bigger. That way, you can clearly see your stitches. Oh, and lighter yarn colors are also better for you to see. You'll want to be able to see your stitches easily when you first begin, that way you can count them and know for sure you're doing things right.

I'm actually trying it out as I speak now. I decided to try again after giving up 3 years ago.
I was so happy to read your Bio about not being able to do it at all, and then finally getting it. It gives me hope and also knowing that even if you do find it very hard at first you can get there.
I'm looking at my 4 hour attempt at the beginning of a very misshapen hamster and getting very disheartened. It took me about 2 hours to get the magic circle. Lol but I shall prevail!

Aww don't be disheartened! Just keep trying. You'll eventually make something you're satisfied with. I have a HUGE pile of failures, and I've taken apart so many projects because they didn't work out it's not even funny. I learned mostly by making things from patterns first, and then some things I learned from watching youtube (videos really help!). Don't give up until you're satisfied, but rest your hands too!
