Cold. Alone. Unsure. She looked outside the elevator's glass, gazing upon the city that laid before her. The land beneath her was a series of blues, purples, and pinks. The bright, white sparkles of the city's lights gave a starry feel to it, giving it the best look at nighttime. She could hardly grab every detail as the elevator was speeding to its destination, smoothly upwards. She looked at the details in the golden elevator as she waited for her destination to creep closer to her. 
The elevator was a tall, cylinder shape, half gold and half glass, giving her plenty to look at outside, and also a slight sense of no balance. If the glass decided to break, she would be doomed. She raised her head back up from her feet, and look at different parts of the elevator instead. She looked at the floor buttons on the pad, each having a small, variously-colored diamond next to each floor number. 
She skimmed through all the buttons, stopping at number #106. T

    The sitting room floor was littered with takeaway boxes. Piled up cartons provided ample accommodation for greenish and blackish mould, and possibly Worms in Residence. Bedrooms were like the aftermath of a burglary; and the "living" space could just as well be a sarcophagus - with views over the sea.
       Cuckoo, sounded the old grandfather clock. It was 1:00 am.
    Bill sat in silence for hours on end. Images and worries jumped from one picture to another like a reel in his head, playing and re-playing scenes from the story of his life. So many things should be different, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
    Frustrating dead-end job at the upmarket Quay? Check. Selling life insurance, no less - to the poor bastards who didn’t need any. How ironic is that, he'd muse: life insurance.

First I’ll present our contest; yes there are prizes, which come in the from of DA points.
As many of you know, our group tends to focus on Mental Illness, the ill, unstable, and their friends. To that end, you can expect our contests and prompts to revolve around this theme and topic.
But this should not be seen as a restriction. The theme may be comprised of these elements, but the works of literature they inspire can take on any twist and turn and be about absolutely anything; we just provide that initial spark and we see what comes out of it.
Due to our low number of members, I will run this contest for approx. two (2) weeks, giving ample time for us to welcome new members to our family, and to allow the creative juices to freely flow, unimpeded.
