Some time ago I sent you some new Polish language tips. I had problems with sending messages, so I'm wondering if you received it?

Yep! I got it, no worries. I just haven't had time to really look over it yet because school has been insane. Thanks for checking, though! =]

You're so welcome! =3
Ok, so random question/request time. I'm actually playing Fem!Poland as a part of the Nyotalia World Conference on Youtube ([link] ) and I really want to do a good job representing Poland, but I don't know Polish! I've heard it's a really heard language for an English speaker to learn, so I'm not really sure where to start. Do you have any tips for me?

Sure.
But tell me, what would you like to know - sentences, pronunciation tips or maybe something else?

Um, definitely pronuciation and also some helpful phrases....eep! I don't know where to start!

So, firstly - pronunciation. The most difficult to pronounce for foreigners are:
- [Δ
] = French [on] in the word "compagnon"
- [Δ] = French [in] in the word "vin". If it's at the end of the word, many people pronounce like [e] in "elle" or "hello"
- [Γ³] = [u] = English [oo] in the word "good", but shorter
- [r] is always rolled, just like Russian [r]
- [ch] = [h] = English [h] in "hello"
- [rz] = [ΕΌ] = [zh]
- [sz] = [sh] in word "she"
- [cz] = [ch] in word "cheese"
- [Ε] - many people pronounce it like [sh], which is incorrect. It's rather [s'] (soft [s]) or soft Russian [Ρ]
- [si] = [syi]
- [Δ] = [ts'] or Russian [ΡΡ]/[t']
- [ci] = [tsyi]
- [Ε] (or capital: [Ε] - something similar to English [w], or better - Russian [Π»] in word "Π»Π°ΠΏΠ°". But some people (mostly elders and people living in the eastern parts of country) also pronounce like hard [l]
- [w] is always English [v]
- [j] is always English [yi]
- [Ε] = French [gn] in word "Pologne"
- [ni] = [Εyi]
And now, some helpful phrases which you can use in your video.
I assume that fem!Poland's name is Felicja Εukasiewicz [Feleetsya Wookasyevich] (but if you want it to sound more "traditional", you can also use ΕukasiewiczΓ³wna [Wookasyevichoovna] if she's not married, or Εukasiewiczowa [Wookasyevichova] if married).
- good morning/afternoon - dzieΕ dobry [dzyen' dobriy]
- good evening - dobry wieczΓ³r [dobriy vyechoor]
- good bye - do widzenia [do veedzennyia] or informal do zobaczenia [do zobachennyia] (not [do svidannyia], like many people think. It's in Russian, and in Polish it literally means "to the dawn"), that is see you
- hello - witam [veetam] (people also use word czeΕΔ but for foreigners it's almost impossible to pronounce correctly, and it's used by friends, while witam is rather universal and polite)
- yes - tak [takh]
- no - nie [nyeh]
- thank you - dziΔkujΔ [dzyenkooye]
- please - proszΔ [proshe]
- excuse me/I'm sorry - przepraszam [psheprasham]
- I am... - ja jestem... [ya yestem] or just jestem [yestem].
- Poland - Polska [Pol'ska]. Alternative name of Poland is Lechia [Lehiya].
Because Poland is Slavic country, I think that word slava, which is traditional Slavic greeting, which means "glory" or "fame", would be useful.
And since it's Hetalia project, do you want me to send you names of different countries in Polish?

Oh wow! This is so great! I think I'm going to try and make a video of me trying (and failing) to pronounce these. This is so helpful! Thank you again!
