i had that in the beginning too with my lomos, but then i started taking my pictures to a real photographer to get them developed (not the developing things you can find in the grocery store) and from then on all of them have these colors.
i hope that helps
and i use ISO 100 films in case you were interested

Hello there. About the software, any software capable of doing raster pictures can be used for pixel art. Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro... even Paint, which comes with Windows, can be used to create pixel art. Try checking the pixel art forum here at DeviantART. There's a thread about the software used for making pixel art. I myself use Paint Shop Pro and it's more than enough for me.

And to answer your question on how to do it, well, pixel art is a very special kind of digital art, because on pixel art, every pixel of the picture is important (that's what the phrase " Pixel art is art made pixel by pixel" really means). It is also an art on where the challenge resides on using a limited amount of tools. We don't use filters, we don't use special brushes, we don't use anti-alias (you can apply anti-alias to an image, but you should do it manually, pixel by pixel). Also, in pixel art it's important to keep the colors used on a picture to a minimum. The challenge here resides on doing quality pictures using as less colors as possible, using each and every one of the colors on your palette to its max. This is an heritage from old-school video games, on where graphic artists had a very limited amount of colors to work on, so they always tried to make the graphics using a very little amount of colors. You'd be amazed what some people can do with, say, 16 colors. Again, I advise you to check the pixel art forum, because this topic has been discussed frequently.

Another thing I recommend you is to check this page: [link] . It contains a large amount of pixel art tutorials, from sprites to isometric pixel art, almost everything you need to know is explained there. I have learnt a lot by looking at them and I'm sure you will too.
