Would love it if you could create my original wrestlers in 3D. I have enough to have my own promotion. Would be excellent if my characters were created and placed in their own original wrestling game.
Good work on your models!

Your work is how a Mortal Kombat of this generation should look like. Real people, real proportions, texture. That is what MK was all about in the past. And that was the thing that made it so popular.

by your name i guess you speak spanish, will be more easy to ask something.

I've spent most of my life in the United States, but I am Puerto Rican. I lived a few years in PR when I was little, and Speaking Spanish is easy for me, but writing is kind of hard.

Just a couple of questions for you.
1. How long have you been doing 3D art (including sculpting)?
2. Any tips, hints or advice for someone relatively new to 3D art?

gabe687 In reply to VizardFerrer [2011-11-04 07:00:17 +0000 UTC]
I've been using 3D programs for ten years, zbrush for like seven or eight. The school I went to was more about drawing and painting, so most of what I know is self taught. Purchasing DVD's from gnomonworkshop and searching for random tutorials online.
The fastest way for me to learn is with Training DVDs. You need a basic understanding of anatomy, mainly muscle insertion and bone structure. Practice drawing, and gray scale shading, it helps with sculpture. Check the forums where you see good work and try to learn how they do it.
practice a lot, and try to stick with something from start to finish. Every time you do it, it should get a little better. It can be something small, like a head, a shirt.... anything, just keep learning. Don't let something hold you back when it looks too complicated.
Don't think you are going to make something great fast, it takes time.

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I've been doing most of that stuff anyway, so I'm glad to know that it does actually help.
I taught myself anatomy a while back, and it has come in handy.
But, for some reason, I've never been able to pick up 2D or traditional art. But as a 3D artist I progressed quite quickly compared to other people in my class. Just seems weird to me.

hey. I've seen your work for mugen on youtube and elecbyte's site and it looks fantastic. I have a question for someone with your level of knowledge in 3dmodelling/animating.
there are many 3dmodels which were ripped from games(e.g. here: [link] ) and people still draw their own models though. can those models be used with blender or the program you use to animate them and create mugen-chars?
It'd be awesome if you can find the time to answer.
Really looking forward to the release of your chars.

gabe687 In reply to Zborik [2011-08-08 05:01:34 +0000 UTC]
You can use pretty much any model to make characters for mugen. The main thing to get right is to have them in a vitruvian pose, which you'll need for rigging.
If you extract them posed, it's a real pain to get them in to the right position.

Zborik In reply to gabe687 [2011-08-08 20:48:02 +0000 UTC]
but it's as good as impossible to rip a model in a vitruvian pose
Do you use 3ds max?
PS: thanks for the explanation
