If I ever get some money saved up, I think I know a cosplay challenge you might be able to tackle. Seeing your Scarecrow and Garrus, I doubt you'd have much trouble with an HK-47 cosplay.

Would you mind telling me what materials you used for your NCR ranger cosplay? *A*
Like how you made the chest piece, and the mask.
Especially the mask looks so accurate D___D

grimdarkkommissar In reply to Tiase [2012-07-19 17:06:27 +0000 UTC]
the mask was pieces of styrene plastic i cut to shape and assembled.
the chest armor is EVA foam.
if you look around my comments on the pics i've answered these questions before, also included a really handy link to the journal/tutorial i wrote on how to build it yourself
i'm having a mold made of the helmet so i can produce more.

Yeah i noticed after i looked a bit around.
I live in Denmark so it's not all kinds of foams we can get.
The closest is crafting foam, is that good enough?
And then i'm curious about how to color foam.
I mean, as the name says, it's foam. It's surface would look weird if i painted it without filling all those small holes with something else =o
Would that actually work?
Getting a mold made of the helmet? =o

grimdarkkommissar In reply to Tiase [2012-07-25 18:48:39 +0000 UTC]
craftfoam is really thin EVA foam, essentially.
you need about a half inch thick of EVA foam to work with.
try to find the jigsaw shaped floor mats that connect together, i know there is a brand of them in denmark, i remember an old friend having his workshop covered in them, but i dont know the brand.
in the USA we use a rubber spraypaint called plasti-dip to coat our foam before we paint it, it makes it much easier to work with

I'm really inspired by your Ciaphus Cain costume. I've read the novels and I absolutely love his character. For this year's San Diego Comic Con, I want to make a costume that looks similar to his, but am having a hard time finding the coat and cap. Do you think you can refer me to places that might have them? Any help would be appreciated! Your costumes are amazing!
