Hi, I'm sorry this is half a year late.

I don't go forward with my art much, and when I do, it's usually something new, so my gallery is just full of a wide array of nonsense, and I had mostly given up on art as a serious thing.

I've spent most of my adult life working toward a game series. That's led me finally back here and I'm thinking of using DeviantArt on a regular basis because I'm doing more artwork and I've always envied the people who turned this place into their home.

I don't know what things you saw of mine that you were excited for, because I have so much weird stuff. If you're still interested, I have a piece up now that I just submitted and that's the interim kind of stuff I'll be creating while I get my painting practice up enough that I can digitally paint things.

I wish I had responded to this comment when you left it, it feels offensive of me to be this late. I saw that you had left this comment only about a month ago when I was stopping by the site to look for some old thing I had made, but by that point it was so long past that I was embarrassed. I should see if there are email updates I can get, but I should be around more often anyway I hope.

I don't get a lot of encouragement, and this made me feel really good. Not many people see my work, and while I'm looking to change that, it's important to me that I take good care of the people who have encouraged me this far, and I wanted you to know that this meant a lot to me, once I saw it, even though it took me five months to see and then another month to reply.

o are you kidding it gave ME motivation! i want to try that now. it made me realize how much i could learn by rendering 3d objects and painting them. i am sure i would have so much practice from it. i never know what to practice but to light objects and then paint them i dont know it was so pretty the way you chose brush type and the color i like painting i have to do more of it

Oh wow! Glad to be of service!

For painting I use a natural brush. I start with 100% opacity and roughly render the object. I then set the same brush down to 30% and blend in shadows better. I take the base color of the object then, and brighten it in the colors panel. I use that to counter and sand down the shadows. Keep the brush at 30%, because bright colors are really strong! Once it looks good and smooth, take the light color even brighter. (Not white, but close) Paint where the light hits the object directly. Remember to brush very gently! (That is if you have pressure sensitivity on your tablet) Just polish up the object until you are satisfied. Took me about 3 minutes.

I forgot to ask if you have Photoshop! If not, what I just said might not work for you! Oops.

your work is varied. which on this website is uncommon. many who achieve one good painting do the same thing twenty times and hope no one notices. and in their defense, that lets anyone who enjoys their one painting really pick which particular flavor of the one dish that suits them best.

but you, you have an interesting range about your work.your latest work, your Dagre vs Mocheril; how different from your other pieces. you have portraits, comics, cartoon, realism, stylization. it is an interesting gallery and i hope i get acquainted enough with it to come to understand you as the creator enough to see how all of these disparate pieces fit together

i don't see all the pieces yet. feels terribly like you might be leaving things out that you are making but not deeming worthy of your gallery. which is an art in of itself so i don't mean to push. but you have me wanting to see more. not further pieces, but -- sketches or half baked ideas or joke ideas or something; the sideways pieces,- i can't shake the feeling like there is wonderful sideways more fleshing out that you would be up to to create the pieces you have presented. but, really just a guess.

i have been offending people of late by overassuming and overstepping my bounds. i probably will have done that, and i apologize for the over part of it, but without the experience to know when to stop, i never do the step part of it, and I feel like we're all missing out on opportunities to know one another, out of fear we might go too far.

Haha, thanks. I think it's important for everyone to keep learning. For me that's usually with art styles and techniques. I have a lot of work that I put out that hasn't come out in print yet (which is why I wasn't posting heavily in the last year). I do, however, have a bunch of sketches and such at my Tumblr ([link] ). It has other things on it aside from art, more along the lines of what you mentioned.
