I would ask if you could do a LIID of One More Day, but considering how its so well known with out bad it it, might make the idea way too obvious to do lol

I have a feeling if we did a OMD theme week, we would just get a bunch of suggestions bashing the story, and God knows there's plenty of that on the internet already. I honestly like to keep my stuff more positive and fun than that.

Makes sense, the only reason I suggested that was because I saw your take on the Sins Past story so it just made me think of OMD since JMS was involved in a way. Speaking of which, do you have any thoughts on Maximum Carnage?

Ah, just curious. Its one of those polarizing books apparently, but honestly, I really like it. It actually makes some philosophical arguments about whether killing insane criminals like Cletus Kassidy is a good thing and that nitty gritty ways of the 90's anti-heroes can never always help. All in all, check it out one time when you get the chance ^^

Thanks, but I'll pass. I don't tend to like Spider-Man stories that get too dark, so I'm fairly certain that it wouldn't be my cup of tea.

That's fair, I just thought I'd mention it since it seems to be one of the more polarizing books, but to each is their own ^^. Since you mention that you don't like Spider-Man stories that get too dark, which stories do you like?

Tough to beat the original Stan Lee & Steve Ditko stuff. I was reading those stories in Marvel Tales reprints back in the early 80s along with Roger Stern & John Romita Jr. on the main book. Tom DeFalco & Ron Frenz were also pretty fun. And I like many of the Spider-Man stories from the 70s by guys like Conway, Wein, Kane and Andru.

If that's the case. Do you think the Green Goblin works better as a villain if we still didn't know his identity, or better with knowing that he's Norman Osborn? I've read some stories in the past and I honestly thought Norman was more menacing as himself than as the Green Goblin.

I think the original mystery of the Green Goblin worked beautifully, but if you drag out a mystery forever, it becomes frustrating & pointless. I think they should've just let Osborn stay dead. He had a great death, and nothing he's done since his resurrection has been as cool as before he was killed off.

Speaking of which, you actually do make a good point with that. When I ran on Harry Osborn being the Green Goblin at the time, I actually thought he worked better than Norman because there was REAL tension and drama. Harry just wanted a happy life to be himself and be with his own family, which he did, but the psychological grip of his father wouldn't let go of his mind, and how is it not only causing tension with himself and his family, but also with Peter Parker as Spider-Man, who Harry believed killed his father. This reminds me actually of Ramses from The Prince of Egypt for some reason but hey that's just me lol.
In what story did Norman come back in? I feel like I missed that one.

They brought him at the end of the Clone Saga in the 90s. It was more of a way to finally end that storyline than anything else.

Would you try to combine the characters from Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat with the heroes and Villains from the universes of DC and Marvel?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
johntrumbull In reply to Simpson1982 [2012-05-12 05:54:45 +0000 UTC]
Maybe. I'd have to do some research on the Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter characters, as I didn't play too much of either of those games back in the day. But anything's possible!
