I think it would be a great idea! I'd certainly love to see your art there. Personally I think that you can do more with layout and colours to match your artwork with Tumblr than Deviantart, but there are pros and cons to both.

Tumblr isn't only for art (then again, I guess Deviantart isn't either but it mostly is). That means that in order to get anything noticed, you have to use tags and simply build up followers.
I think the reactions to your blog and what kind of people you attract can vary based on what you post. It's also a bit hit and miss whether you're going to get feedback, though you could ask for it directly.
People will also notice more of your artwork if it is reblogged (which is basically akin to sharing a post to your own blog, not actually reposting it). Sometimes you only get likes, which are nice, but they won't broaden your audience.
There also aren't groups to submit to like Deviantart, although I sometimes come across art blogs which accept submissions, which would be sort of similar but still different.
