I'm curious as to what made you choose to start doing Gender Swap Captions?

I'm an old fart so it's a long story, but I've loved anything tg-related for a very very long time. I've dabbled in writing for quite a while, and became quite enamored with caps some years back. Now I do both artsy and live-action (for DA). It's a lot easier than full-blown writing, but the hardest part is finding good images to cap. My criteria is that a 'perfect' cap fits the image as soon as I see it, but often it's not that easy. In fact, recently my sources of art sources has seriously dropped. Meanwhile I help Femur by administering her TGCaps.com site while she concentrates on the thriving TGComics.com

Okay. I'm just sort of weirded out that you would label them as trans captions when they don't really have anything to do with trans individuals. They are just gender swap scenarios. Being transsexual myself, I find them fun to read (as a sudden sex change with no effort needed is every transsexual individual's dream), but when you label them as transgender, I feel that you aren't truly appreciating what it means to be trans and the hardships the average transgender individual has to go through to complete the gender change and/or the sex change for transsexuals. Just how I feel, I apologize if I'm coming off as rude here.

Your impression is understandable, but I've been a 'wish I was a girl' person for many decades, and I take a much different tack. To me TG is ANYTHING related to what is now commonly lumped into LGBT subject matter. For me TG = anything (print, caps, movies, etc) that includes a gender change. Maybe that's not the PC version nowadays, but I've never been one to care for all the PC crap in this world. I'd rather just tell it like it is, 'cause its impossible to please everyone so why try. Better honesty than PC.
Awe, sorry for the rant. Just know that I respect your trans-ness, and accept that your perspective is different, even though I've been mentally-trans since my youth.
Don't know if any of this makes any sense, but .....well..... whatever.
Bottom line:Β I enjoy what I'm doing and will continue to write and make caps that I'd like to read/see.

Okay, perhaps some clarification, what does TG stand for? I thought it stood for transgender but you seem to be going as though it stands for something different. It being called transgender is what irked me, as it is really Gender Bender (GB) and calling it transgender gives off a misrepresentation of who we are, something that we really don't need to be happening during this era where people take whatever they can find off the internet as fact.

I will concede that GB is a much more 'umbrella' term that could include TG, TV, TS, even CD. So it's probably better that my work be categorized as you suggest. So please don't take any of this personally. But you've got me thinking. I'll bet your a lot younger than me, with vastly different backgrounds and experiences. I've been forced to suppress my fantasies for my entire life, only able to vent secretly via rare CD episodes in hiding, and my writing/captioning.
Given all the various terms and interpretations out there, here's a personal question for you (if you wish to answer, of course): Where are you on the TG scale? Mmental femme, transitioning, pre-op, post-op TS, or something else?

Gender Bender and the LGBTQI community are really two completely different things. Gender Bender has to deal with dramatic and instantaneous fantasy-only-plausible changes which generally result from magic or sci-fi and occur against the will of the person undergoing the sex change. Japan has been doing Gender Bender for a really long time, and it generally follows this category. The trans and queer category more or less has to deal with individuals struggling to come to terms with their individual sexuality and personal identity, and then trying to get the rest of the world to accept what they believe in. Their's is a slow, tedious life long battle that more often than not, never gets completed because the surgery and hormones provided are always insufficient or applied improperly or way too expensive. It also results in discrimination, abuse and sexual assault from friends, family members and community. Many trans individuals can only ever find jobs in the sex industry.
End rant >.>
As for me, indeed I am young, and I'm sort of a pioneer of the modern sexuality movement front, trying to bring the awareness of the topics taught in Sexology to the common public, and that children need to be taught the full sex-ed program by the time they reach the age of 12 (instead of 16-18 which it is now), which then expands onto general Sexology material for the rest of junior high and high school. I'm also Western Canadian, currently in University, meaning I'm in a much more accepting community than pretty much the rest of the world.Β
As for my current status, I'm pre-op and inbetween hormonal therapies. I've yet to go into a heavy hormonal therapy transition because I recently moved to university, finished first year and just got a job ... these were the more important things I wanted to get done before I started heavily into my transition. I'm actually an MTH TS, male to hermaphrodite transsexual, and an MTF, male to female transgender. Meaning that I wish to appear female in society, but my biology is to be that of a hermaphrodite (some call it intersex, but it really isn't that).

You're to be congratulated on pursuing your life priorities and adapting to circumstances. So may youth today expect to be given everything asap when they haven't earned anything. It's very discouraging to an old fart like me.
On the GB subject, your definition is far more restrictive than mine. Is a TVs, CT, TS's, and TG's all 'bending' their birth gender? The specifics are in how far them go.
The differences in our ages and history will probably never let us reach any consensus a lot of this. But my last closeout feedback is that I got a B.S. in Psychology primarily to help me understand myself, and it did, immeasurably. If I was where you are today, I would be aghast and confused by the vastly divergent yet overlapping definitions of all the terms being bandied about nowadays. It was so much simpler back then when there was just gay/queer, TV, CD, and sex changes (they weren't even called TG/TS until the 60s and later).
Finally, a point about my caps:Β I post my art/toons on TGCaps.com (not the TG!), and my 'live' here on DA. They'reΒ a mix ranging from dress-ups men turned somehow into 'real' women. I don't label or categorize them on either site. I will, however, honor and embrace your suggestion that I call it Gender Bending.

Well, for one thing, ever since the feminist movement in the late 90's, gender and sex have been given different definitions. Sex is purely something related to biological physiology, while gender is the conceived position in our society and culture. Hence the differences between transsexual and transgender. Currently, however, transgender is defined as the over-arching term for everything related to trans individuals, and transsexual seems to be just "another term". Even further, transgender was removed from the DSM-V, meaning it is no longer considered a psychological disorder.
There's a lot going on in the trans community in terms of naming that I don't like. I'm trying to re-define it all so that all forms of trans individuals are taken into account, and so that there is a lot less confusion among those who aren't trans. Note that, transvesitites and cross-dressers are not grouped in with transgender/transsexual, because inherently, they do not wish to change their gender or their sex, which is the key definer for what is now called the trans community.
Thank you for taking my considerations into account ^.^
