I am thinking of a high-pitched scream that hurts ears.
Will it help if i give you an excerpt of whats happening? I copied some text below in case you can get a better idea of how i am using it.
let me know if you have questions, still. I forgot about the writing of fan fics, but i'm doing that anyway. i was thinking of something extra to thank you

From up on the conveyor belt, Sid noticed a piece of paper stuck on one of the levers near the top. As he jumped down he grabbed the note. A soft hum started.
"Um, you must have touched a button or something- we should leave." Tobey looked around, worried about where the sound was coming from.
"Shhhhh Tobey β listen to this!" Sid read from the page:
"Hello rejects, YOU LOSE. I already found this recipe, but how do you like it? It is the ~'screaming mushroom'~ recipe. I'm heading for Wu's Garden to get the rest of the recipes. I'll give your Nana your best wishes β since you'll never see her again."
"Oh man β Sid, we better get . . ." Tobey didn't get to finish his thought, the soft humming sound like a motor, turned into a loud sound and the conveyor belt started with a rusty squeak. The noise and vibration woke the mushrooms and they started emitting a very high-pitched sound like a scream β which was their nature.
Tobey and Sid made a dive for the door they entered through, but found it locked again. The volume and pitch of the screaming mushrooms increased in only seconds. Already trying to hold his ears, Tobey dropped to his knees at the door and fumbled in his pocket with one hand, trying to get the knife out again.
Sid tried to scream over the mushrooms, "Tobey! Too late for that β go for the belt!" but Tobey couldn't hear him. Sid had to take his hands away from his ears to get Tobey. He picked him up under the arms, turned him around and pointed at their only possible exit. Taking his hands away from his ears caused Sid great pain, but he had to do it to try and guide Tobey to their escape. He hurried to cover his ears again and went for the belt.
As soon as Sid let go of Tobey to re-cover his ears, Tobey dropped to his knees again - instead of going for the slow-moving conveyor belt. The noise the mushrooms emitted was so intense it hurt - even through their hands. The mushrooms vibrated harder with the increasing high-pitched squeal. Both boys screaming in pain, they were becoming less aware of anything except that horrible sound. They would soon be debilitated enough to not be able to escape and Sid at least, realized that.
With his back to Tobey, thinking he was right behind him, Sid rolled onto the belt to ride through the small opening and escape. Fortunately for Tobey he looked for him right away, and saw his friend was back on the floor.
"TOBEY!" Sid rolled off the belt, gritted his teeth when he had to use his hands to pick Tobey up. Sid screamed loudly through his clenched teeth, unable to cover his ears at all while he picked Tobey up and put him on his back on the belt. Tobey held his ears tightly and arched his back off the belt, writhing and screaming in pain; the high-pitched shrieking felt like it was cutting his head in half.
When Sid covered his ears again and tried to hop up to sit on the belt himself, he missed and fell. On the floor himself now, Sid was still screaming, but not as loudly as he got weaker. He wished he could scream loud enough to drown out the mushrooms and make it stop hurting.

i had a hard time picking from the stories u put in ur poll... in the end i ended up picking the prank wars one, though the family one was practically tied with it, then the angel one too TT.TT
sooo~ many awesome choices. reminds me of what we learned the other day in my AP Psych class... approach-approach conflict: when there is more than one choice that u don't know which one to choose cuz they are both awesome!! (perhaps my psych teacher wouldn't be pleazed with that definition... but it works XD )

thanks for letting me know which stories sounded interesting to you. This translation was for the recipe Kong Li will find in the Witch Sue story, actually it starts with kong li using the recipe against the boys 'cause i wanted to get Sid and Tobey out of it for a while.
i think family will be a little similar to Human, [one of the angel trilogy.] but it'll be Tobey angst instead of Sue and the plot and reasons for the situations will be different.

i didn't sleep that day, but sure did this morning. i got up at five, but by 8 i felt like i hit a wall. me and three dogs went back to bed and slept again until 11am. it was nice
