Thanks to you too! I am glad you like it. This drawing is some different from the photo reference (I was made it on my way, as others of my works with references), but the result in the lights and shadows is very satisfactory (I like it too!).

Sorry I didn't leave a comment before. I was looking for examples of Hebrew calligraphy and "grabbing" as many images as I could to help inspire me. So yes, I thought several of your pieces were beautiful. I wanted to do some calligraphy for a long time. The portrait and things I've been doing are getting tiresome. I starting teaching myself to read Hebrew a few weeks ago, and finally started the calligraphy practice yesterday. I wrote four pages of the letter reish. It's a start. I fell like I'm six years old again!
Thanks for sharing your work. I was amused at one of the comments left on your Prayer for Traveling. The one that was ashamed to not know Hebrew because it was the language of Hashem, only he didn't say "Hashem" I'm not really religious either, but I do respect our traditions and know that I'm not smart enough to comprehend the vastness of the cosmos. Funny how an art project from school can launch people into such philosophical discussions. It shows how art can be so powerful!

Calligraphy is a matter of practice like everything else. So if you dedicate yourself enough for the task you will be great.
Learning Hebrew is uneasy task.
I have few links that might help you a bit on your endeavor, if you also seek ability to speak it:
Looking back at my comments on my older pieces make me a bit ashamed about my English... But I grew better.
I have a student now and I made two pieces to help her out. Some others asked me to help them to learn Hebrew from these works, so I added Latin transcription, and few links of free sources I've checked in the Internet for being correct and clean from accents:

Also I don't know if you heard, but they started building a Duolingo course for English speakers of Hebrew language. I think it will take them more that a year to complete, but they already did 10%.

Yeah, well it was not just a school project. Calligraphy was used, and sometimes still is, for rewriting the Torah. So it's bond to link you to philosophy.
But yeah, I do agree that inspiration can be found in most unexpected places. And art indeed can be very powerful.

Just dropping by to see how you're doing. I'm presently trying to help my son get his hours for his driving test to get his license. He just re-started piano lessons after I mentioned it as a possibility to spend his free time.
Work is a wonderful distraction as is buying food for some of my favorite waitresses at a local restaurant.
I had one young lady complain to me that she ate all three cinnamon buns I baked for her in one sitting and promptly told me she needs to go on a diet and I can only bring vegetables in the future. That's not going to happen.
I wanted to wish you well and encourage you to keep creating those beautiful images you create.

Perhaps you should avoid looking at the Statue of David by Michaelangelo. I'm sure it would violate the standards you seem to be holding Mike to. Or perhaps you are unaware of how much other people appreciate the human form. It must be a sad existence for you to look for all the things you despise and let other people know your disappointment in their taste. You'd better get busy.

You have a mission dear. I think you need to alienate every artist here that posts something you disagree with. Eventually they will block you and isolate you because they don't want your negativity on their page when there are so many more that appreciate their work besides you
