My name’s Gabriella and I’m 16 and stressed. My activities range from reading, writing, drawing in the margins of my schoolwork, procrastinating, going for walks, kissing my dogs, and crying over the fact that Kaneki didn’t deserve it. I draw on and mostly off, though I am now trying to get myself back into it.
I live in Indonesia and am currently dying a slow and painful death by IB #rip in peace

I am the reader of my mangas.
Anime is my body and manga is my blood.
I have read aover a thousand doujins.
Nor known for having life.
Have withstood long time in search of many figurines.
Yet, these hands will never get the perfect one.
So, as I present. Unlimited Otakuworks.

IB is kinda like this high school academic program that you take the last 2 years of high school, and its known to be REALLY demanding x_x the subjects we study are on a university level, and we have a LOT of work to do like a shit ton of essays and researches. At the end of the 2 years we have a final set of tests (soo kinda like SATs or ACTs I suppose but IB is a european thing)
pretty lengthy reply for something I am not fond of, but yeah hope this answers your question! And thank you for the compliment <33

Aww jeez, those are horrible, I've heard of them x_X And don't worry, I don't mind lengthy replies, it answered my question!! Best of luck with it, if you can make it through those, you'll make it through uni. High school always sucks, but uni is pretty fun if you get into something you like (but admittedly by your 3rd/4th year you wanna die XD). What are you getting into for university, have you decided yet? (sorry if I'm being nosy, just curious, you don't have to answer that XD)
And you're welcome!!

honestly I hdon't have a single clue ): Fr though I feel like I'm too non-committed to stay with one major for several years in uni and at the same time I feel like I have too many interests. I'm really interested in biotechnology (biology is my favorite science), but also in art as well - though I'm not taking art as an IB subject rn bc it's REALLY demanding and you have a maximum of 6 subject choices. I chose chemistry over art so I could take double sciences x___x Recently, I've found that writing is also a passion of mine; I took a writing class this summer and my teacher encouraged me to possibly pursue it in the future since I apparently have a knack for writing?? ahahah at this point I'm so super confused the future seems so scary and impossible, I'm just 16 HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DECIDE WHAT'S RIGHT FOR ME AT THIS POINT
hahah I appreciate you listening to my rambling!! and what do you think?? Seeing as you've spent quite some time in uni already what do you suggest for me to do? Should I go for my interests or my talents? Deciding is so hard ;_;

I don't mind your rambling, I was once stuck with the same problems haha! Here's my advice (beware of a very, very long post I'm about to write ).
I'd say go with your interests. If you go for something you don't like, you won't be able to find a job you enjoy (and think you'll be stuck with it your whole life!). BUT, have a backup plan, and, most importantly, keep your options open, in case it doesn't work out!! A lot of people look down on you if you have a backup plan for yourself, and will say it shows you have little dedication to your passion, but don't listen to their BS. It's about your life, your future, so it makes sense to prepare for it.
It's alright to have a lot of interests. You'll find in first year that you have to take a lot of different kinds of courses, and that's when you start weeding out what you like and don't like. I'm not sure if your uni Bachelor degree is 3 or 4 years (here it's 4), but you definitely have at least your first year to decide on something I had friends who went into science then switched to some other degree, and vice versa. I didn't know until halfway through my 2nd yr that I wanted to do molecular biology! Until then, I just took science courses.
Suppose you want to get a BSc with, let's say, a major in Biology. If you decide that's what you want by the end of your first year of uni, go for it. As you progress through your studies you'll see whether you like what you've chosen or not (middle of 2nd year or so you really start realizing whether you enjoy the field you chose, as you learn more and more about it). Some people know right away what they want and others take longer to decide, and that's fine.
I'll use myself as an example. I'm finishing up a BSc with specialization in molecular biology and genetics, but I can tell you I don't like it, at all. The more I learned about it, the more I came to realize I don't enjoy what I'm learning and I could never see myself doing something like that with pleasure. This also came with me realizing at the end of my 2nd yr that I preferred to spend time learning about and doing art, looking at tutorials, keeping up to date with cool and new art-related things, etc (I thank my mom for making me realize this).
I'll finish my BSc now that I started it, but it will act as my "backup plan" because I want to pursue art after I finish my degree. I'll find a job related to my science field (a lab technician/technologist perhaps), but I'll also continue an art education, either taught at a college/uni or self-taught. I don't want to regret not trying to do what I love. And this is where I said keeping a backup plan and your options open is important. I'll do both science and art; I love genetics and biology, but I prefer art. If I can make a living out of art, that would be the coolest thing ever; if not then that's what my BSc degree is for. But that doesn't mean I'll ever give up on trying to make art my day job!
I can also combine science and art, literally, as 2D/3D artists are needed to illustrate/animate various things in science. All those drawings and 3D models you see in your biology/chemistry textbook? Well, an artist did them -- an artist with a degree of some sorts in art (though not necessarily) AND with a degree in a science field, you need both to be this kind of artist. So in my case, I think things turned out for the best I regret it a little I didn't realize I love art more than science and that I didn't go for an art degree straight out of high school, but I'll do the best that I can now. I still have my whole life ahead of me, there's still time! And even at my age (21) I'm still keeping my post-degree options open!
And you're younger still, so don't stress out too much over it. Go for what you like, what interests you, what your passion is, but have a backup plan and keep your options open -- you might discover something you never thought you'd like Hope that wasn't TL;DR and it was helpful, because I know how it feels to feel so lost ; v ;
