Hmm, I've never really thought about it before...it really just comes naturally, if that makes sense. XD I mean, I've always wanted to take into account that these countries have a mottled history, often bloody and dark, and even though the manga is comical, the characters have so much potential depth and emotional background....does that make any sense at all?
Anyway, with all that in the back of my mind, I just switch on the camera and let Iggy take over. XD haha. I'm afraid I just make it up as I go along!

Haha, oddly enough, most people I talk to about Hetalia agree that Englands' personality is probably one of the msot accurate in the series....but we Brits would never truly admit that, of course. Being raging tsunderes' and all. *rolls eyes* XD;

My stereotype of the typical British person is heavily influenced by Mr.Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, who I guess is a bit of a tsundere. XD

As a matter of curiosity, I hope you don't feel offended when I ask the following questions.

My mum used to study in London a long time ago. When she went back a few years ago, she told me that London had changed, in the fact that it's now full of people of different races who don't necessarily adopt British culture as their own. Has this diluted or changed in English culture in anyway? And how do the English feel about it as well?

As a side note, I also heard that the French don't like it when you speak English to them. Someone told me they'd rather hear broken French then fluent English. Is the same true in England?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to know more about the culture in England, seeing as England is one of my favorite characters in Hetalia.

Haha, now that's actually a very interesting question!
England and Britain as a whole has indeed become quite a multicultural mixing pot, in that we have so many races and religions now living here. A lot of people DO feel that this has 'watered down' our own national identity, but then there are others (like myself) who believe that, actually, we brought this upon ourselves way back when the Empire started expanding and absorbing cultures.
In a way, this 'mixed race' society is VERY British. ^^ That's just my view, anyway.

As for the French....well. XD Yes, we complain about them not wanting to speak English but then we get angry when foreigners don't learn our language, either. So, really, France and Britain are as bad as eachother. (But don't tell France I said that!) XD;;

This just begs more questions then; what is England's national identity? What is is that defines an Englishman? Is being English the same as being British? Although there is clearly multiculturalism in London, does this apply to other parts of the UK? Like other parts of England, or Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland?

I also heard that Scotland might be having a referendum to leave the UK in a year/two year's time. How do the English feel about it? I've heard that Scots are generally not pleased to be part of the UK, so this breakaway might be viewed favorably by them.

Lastly, how are British politicians like? I've read some fanfics where David Cameroon is mentioned quite negatively by England as being incompetent. Is this true?

I'm sorry that I have so much questions! I really hope you don't mind answering them, it's just that I'm really interested in learning about different countries and their respective cultures!

Yup, I go to the London Expo twice a year. It's a great place to meet people as it gets so busy and is always full of amazing cosplayers. Sometimes it can feel TOO busy, especially on the Saturday (Sunday is quieter) but you can always escape from it all and go down to the waterside. It should be a great experience, especially if it's your first con gathering, although if you're old enough I'd recommend going to a stand-alond anime con (such as Ame or Aya) some time too. Very different atmosphere. *nod nod*

Ohh I see. I'm going in June 2011 with my friend from America. We decided to go together as a couple, America and England for our respective countries.
I'm just a tad nervous as I've never been to a con before.
Would you suggest maybe trying the sunday then for a newbie? See I can have panic attacks sometimes from anxiety and I try to controll them but sometimes they can get out of hand.

Whats a stand alone con? And where are they? I can't drive.

Ahh, then I'd definately advise going on the Sunday instead of Saturday. Saturdays can be intense even for people who aren't prone to panic attacks.

When I say stand alone con, I mean a convention like Amecon this year. It's dedicated solely to anime and cosplaying, so it's filled with like-minded people. Wonderful times! They're usually held in univeristy grounds or at least places on a main train route, so you don't need to drive. You also usually have to be at least 18 to register, though. Try looking on the internet for Amecon, Ayacon, Kitacon or just google for British anime cons. ^_^V
