CHAD!!!!
I soooo was thinking of you this past weekend! Did you notice I made it to the slot canyon???? That place was amazing, but I could not believe how many people they packed into the caves! I really need to get back there to shoot some more because the time flew by too damn fast! (wasn't able to get on the photographers tour....)

:: My pleasure... I've taken lots of pics of gulls up here but none of my gull pics stand out to me. I always seem to be drawn to the "lone gull" photo. Thanks for your comment on the journal... I've been wanting to improve it for a while... just been too lazy

Thank He's turning me on to other photogs after featuring one of mine. I love the desert southwest. Me and a bud took a trip to Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley in october. It was a blast, in fact, we are planning our next trip! I've taken a peek at your photos and looking forward to spending more time in your gallery. I can't get enough of the desert!

Ryan is great! I was just in Monument Valley last July....It was a quick 48 hour trip from Las Vegas. We also hit up Zion...I was wanting to stay longer in Page, AZ and do Antelope Canyon, but timing just did not permit. Just means we get to plan another excursion. My traveling partner has some amazing desert shots too....

We hired a guide in Monument Valley... saw old ruins and petroglyphs. Just haven't gotten around posting anything from Monument yet. Page was amazing... in fact we didn't realize that's where Horseshoe Bend was until we got back to Alaska - lol. It was a great trip... but a lot of driving.(we stayed in Mesquite, NV) Zion and Bryce Canyon were on our list too, but we didn't have enough time to fit it all in. And the stars! Wow, the desert was just incredible! I could go on and on. Anyway, I will check out your friends photos too... thanks a bunch!

Really? I was not aware there were ruins and petroglyphs there! I would love to go back someday, but there are soooo many places to go! I know Mesquite very well, I live only about an hour from there in the Las Vegas area. I am sure Alaska holds some beautiful scenery too, another place I would not mind venturing too. The stars in the desert are simply amazing...so many people out here take that for granted. Have you ever been to Death Valley? I am sure you would find that a very alien place!

You know, me and , aka Nick, took a week, based ourselves Mesquite because of the location and decided we would do a photography/vacation/roadtrip. We did one night in Vegas, (got hammered - lol), Drove all night to get sunrise in Monument Valley, stayed there all day, then drove back to Mesquite and crashed all day the next day. Then we went to Antelope Canyon via Brian's Head, UT ( I took a wrong turn, but it was worth it, Utah is gorgeous!), then drove back to Mesquite. Rested another day, then drove to Disneyland for some fun for 2 days, one more night in Vegas, and then it was back to the frozen tundra. We had Death Valley on our list of possibilities, as well as Bryce, Zion, and Valley of the Sun. I did a brief visit to Vegas/Grand Canyon in the summer and wanted to go back... honestly there was sooooo much we wanted to do, but the absolute musts were Monument and Antelope Canyon. Trust me, we are planning another trip... (actually even possibly relocating - 15 AK winters are enough) We stopped at the side of the road in the middle of the night and I couldn't believe the stars. We said we would shoot em later, but we didn't (kicking ourselves now).
AS for Alaska, yes, it's beautiful, but even though you are dealing with snow right now, and I'm sure Lake Mead could use it, fall/winter up here is a good 7 months. Summers are wonderful, but unless you are a snow bunny... it can be a real drag. Tell me, how do you like Vegas? Tuscon looks to be somewhat similar to Anchorage compared to size and people... just on a bit of a larger scale. I hear it's nice. Yeah, I just have the desert in my blood now, and a rather large wonderlust - lol. We'll see what happens
