Right now for my newest photos I am using the Nikon AF-S 35mm f/1.8G ED.
That means I usually have to get real close for everything. I need a bigger lens for portraits, I'm thinking of eventually getting a macro lens. What camera and lens do you use?

im using a pretty basic lens right now, the AF-S DX nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6VR. im planning on getting some other lenses next year but i don't know yet. i was thinking nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G or the nikon 24mm/1.4G, because i would like to take more landscape photos. but i would still love a macro lens as well!

So you have the lens that usually comes in the bundle deal. Most people get that. Primes are much better, but there is the hassle of having to switch to another lens if you want to get closer. The two lenses you mentioned are good for landscaping as you mentioned. Macro seems like it could be a lot of fun.
