XP may support more software but in comparison with Win2k it is just... well... My opinion in this case might slide into disadvantageous statement

It's taking 350 MB RAM for doing nothing, often freezes completely, somtimes just shutting down the computer, popping up errormessages and going on my nerves with dayly security updates. If the system would have been designed secure in the first place, this would not be necessary... *wah* xD
And it's quite slow. Some programs do need a lot of time just to start. This all did not happen whilst I used Win2k ...
I am definitely not happy with it. MAC is expensive and Linux has a obstacle for beginners :) (Smile)
before I get Vista, I will learn to handle Linux -_-
