Hey Aryanire,
thanks for your comment and I'm really happy you like my photos I do not study photography and I do not think I will in future. Yeah in the meantime I've got a little collection of cameras and lens. Since 2009 I got each year a new camera with a new lens. The 70-300mm and 50mm are the only two lens I've bought without a new camera But the D7000 should be the last one I will buy (for the next few year )

Then what are you studying? Or have you got a job? A lot of good photographers never studied photography, and I think you should also become a pro and make your living out of it...
And about the camera's... I wish I could do that too I'm in University right now, and everything costs a lot. But for a couple of years now, I have been saving money and I intend to buy a real Camera next year, probably a Nikon or Canon, and looking for second-hand quality

I'm doing an apprenticeship to chemical laborant. I had luck with my first two cameras. They were sponsored by my parents and grandparents. But the last one and the other equipment, I had to pay alone. It is such an expensive hobby..but a good one.

Yes, you're right. Wow, chemistry... never a good match for me, I was more like a language freak.
I'm thinking about a Nikon, the internet says that a D7000 currently is the best camera on the market...

I hear this from many people, but it's much fun. Do you study languages?
Yeah the D7000 is an amazing camera for less money.

I studied languages for one year (english-french) but I switched to Art Sciences this year. A lot of fun it is
Well, I should go on saving money then because clearly, the internet and I disagree about the notion 'less money'...

The worst thing is that it's ok for me, but to persuade my parents tat I want that camera for sth that isn't even a serious hobby... gonna be very hard

thogro In reply to Aryanire [2011-12-08 13:07:09 +0000 UTC]
Why shouldn't this be a serious hobby?

That's not what I mean, I mean that I never took any photography courses, that I am a real amateur and that I only go out once a week to take pictures...

I also never took any photography courses. I learned it all by myself or by reading tutorial here on deviantart and other sides. And "only once a week" would be a luxus for me. I'm happy when I can go out at least for one day per month to get some shots. What kind of photography do you prefer?

now I mostly do outdoor shooting, nature, plant, an occasional bird, that kind of stuff... but I'd really love to work with pro-models too

apn is good to increas your skill. you have some good shots (lost shell, dead life, purple at dawn are my favs) but they look flat. do you do post processing? I took the three photos (i hope its ok) to show whats possible to do out of you photos. --> [link] (if you want me to delete it just say it ) I made this in about 5min in adobe lightroom 3 but you can do this also with gimp or other programms. Post processing is a important step to get even better photos. And it is esential for model photography. I had a band shooting and also one day of concert photography. without post processing all the picture looked odd.

Wow... I see what you mean, the pics look very different after post processing, but no, I've never done it before, wouldn't know how. Haven't got Photoshop, but I have Gimp installed...

I love Lightroom and the student edition isn't such expensive. But I think Gimp will do it also. Just try different programms (maybe you find some good hints in the dA forum) and get along with them. Like a great man called Baden-Powell said: learning by doing
