Your art is beautiful and your critiques are incredibly helpful (not just to the people you critique either)
Keep up the good work!

Thank you nosebleeds Β
How are your commissions coming along? I'm considering starting commissions myself but am pretty new to the process. Need to read a few articles on that.
Glad the critiques are helpful! If there is anything in special you would like info about don't hesitate to send me a note

Ahh too slow for my liking. Β I only have had the one so far. Β I might have to slash my prices and maybe advertise some more...
really? That would be a great help! Please feel free to point out anything you think I should improve on, I try to be as critical of my work as possible but I still have an artists blindness when it comes to my ow. Work

Thanks for theΒ onΒ Dog Scratching Ear . Are you into animation ?Β

No problem
Yeah, I study animation through books or whatever I can get my hands on.
No animation schools nearby so I make do with available resources
Great animation by the way

Animation is a beautiful artform. I am working my way into the business myself and it's pretty hard, even with a little training.Β
Do you posess of copy of The illusion of Life and a copy of The Animator's Survival kit ?Β
Thanks for the compliment though. I regulary post new gifs on DA. I have posted a new one today actually. Have a look at it if you want. Watch me if you feel like keeping in touch.Β

Yes, I have both
Another good book is acting for animators by Ed Hook. Its a very small book but covers some great concepts on character motivations and personalities.Β
Ed Hook has taught at dream works and (I think) Disney
Dream Worlds also has great lessons on scene composition and production design for animation in general
If you have any other resources you'd like to share, please do !

And Ed Hook is a lovely guy as well. Respectful and generous with his knowledge. I had the chance to meet him a few times at festivals and he always has good stories.Β
You can look into Preston Blair's work for animation learning. He released a few books about cartoons animation.Β
What's the dreamworks book title ?Β

workofk In reply to qbgchaille [2014-07-18 17:15:35 +0000 UTC]
This is the book:
Dream Worlds: Production Design for Animation
I had seen some works of Preston Blair on various tutorials (mostly line of action) on animation but never knew the artist's name. Thanks there
If you're also into the directing aspect of animation, you might want to checkΒ David B. Levy's Directing for Animation Β . He covers most production scales (indie, small companies and bigger budget works) and his experience during the process.

This is interesting I've actually found out that David B. Levy's book calledΒ Your Career in Animation: How to Survive and Thrive Β is actually a much bigger success and is a reference if you aim at working in this business.Β
I'll have a look at the Dream Words book. This looks rather interesting, I have to find out how good it is !Β
Keep in touch, animator friend !Β

Thank you for the watch
You have great stuff yourself
Do you use any resource material to pick up color schemes or clothing ideas?
I see a nice influence from street art with the thicker lineart around some of your artwork

As far as color ideas go, Kuler is a good place to explore combinations on the fly, while Colourlovers is great for exploring usermade palettes
Here is a valuable resource both for drawing and animation. It's been of incredible aid and gets updated regularly.
Hope those help!

No Problem
If you're also into more exotic scenery ideas, Dark Roasted Blend has some interesting collections of.. well, everything. There should be some good urban environments in there.
The pinterest boards are great reference for animation and overall drawing, but when it comes to scenery, photography usually allows you to pick the raw ideas compared to the already processed ones that have been painted.

Thank you back
Great stuff with the beadworks, they are pretty inspiring!
If you haven't seen any yet, you should also explore origami tessellation for inspiration. Somehow I find it related to your own explorations of shape, patterns and form.
awesome art and great style! Keep on posting!

Awesome art in your gallery
I mentioned your work as additional resource for artists learning how to paint materials (great analysis by the way).
Looking forward to seeing more breakdowns. Love learning the process behind good art.
kudos and keep up the great work

Wow, thanks a lot. I probably should do an updated version once....but when i've got time for myself i usually prefer to paint other things. But i'm glad if people find it helpful.
BUt really thank you for featuring me. I feel honored^^.
