the action command is '/me' so you'd type /me dances and it'll be in italics
to talk to someone specifically you type the first letter of their username, then hit tab until you find the one you want and type your message.

To talk to someone directly you type the FIRST letter of their username and hit tab until you find their name and then type a message
Like for me you'd type x and hit tab, my name will appear like this --> xCeresGoddess17x: . That way it'll highlight me so i know your speaking to me directly.
The other thing is when doing an action you type /me.
So for example if you type /me dances it will be in italics as --> pain-owner dances
