sorry to break it to you, but no one's getting sued. it would cost far too much money for the japanese artists to hire international lawyers to deal with something like that.
after all, points aren't *real* money, and the amount she was given was less than 1 USD, so that's hardly even something to be concerned about. she was immediately removed from that contest she entered, and she's already fled the account.
all we can do now is wait for the artists to take action by contacting deviantart and letting them know that their art was uploaded without permission (going off the assumption that someone hopefully contacted them and gave instructions on what to do). from there, this account will be banned and that's that.

Well, considering my experience with dishonest asshats like this, abandoning accounts after mounting accusations is all too common with art thieves here.
It's their way of walking away from a hazardous situation, wherein they have no chance to redeem themselves or go on damage control.Β The mentality is simply "if I don't log back on, I won't have to deal with it!Β I'm such a genius!"
But really, it's the mentality of a coward.Β It's the mentality of someone who knew what they were doing was wrong, and they wanted to ride it out until things got too dicey for them to continue.
Whatever.Β I hope the artists from Pixiv take this person to court and take every penny they have.Β People like this, who operate on the mentality of "I totally won't get caught" do not have an iota of sympathy from me, especially since Pixiv artists are highly talented people who are protective of their work and don't deserve the amount of sneaky underhanded disrespect this person has dealt to them.
