I've always been an art and computer graphics enthusiast, developed good drawing skills and pioneered 3d CGI at the times of Amiga (Imagine, Lightwave 3D).After graduating in electronics engineering I've specialized in optical and mechanical design, developing high proficiency in Pro|ENGINEER, a tool I still use for my side projects.

Hello, I referenced a couple of your models in a journal.
25 Years of Lego M:TRON
Please let me know if you would prefer to have me remove the references. Thank you!

I'm glad you liked my works and no problem for using it, I enjoyed reading your journal, I think exactly the same of M-Tron, although I was already too old to play with LEGO when it came out But honestly, you are never too old to play with LEGO!

Great 3D LEGO work - I particularly like the classic Space scenes, they really take me back to when I got my first sets all those years ago!
I've been meaning to do some classic renders myself (the Robin Hood hideout sets from the late 80's strike a chord) but I can't decide!
Keep up the great work

I actually made a rendering of the Blackstar on mars scene in full gold... maybe I still have it somewhere

i would really like to see a lego space rendering of the sets from the early 90's, like the exploriens sets, or the UFO sets. it would be awesome!

zpaolo In reply to JaydenDragon [2010-12-15 07:57:14 +0000 UTC]
I think I'll have to make Exploriens someday, I like that serie, although there are not so many sets in the franchise. UFO is another story, I admit it's fun and quite inventive, but the use of "super-pieces" to obtain easily some shapes annoys me...
BTW I don't have much spare time right now, I still have a couple of rendering to complete, but my PC crashed badly (cooked hard drive, a nightmare), therefore all my LEGO projects are postponed :/

I'm in the process of switching job so my spare time is veeeery low, I hope I'll have more time in the future for LEGO rendering... I'm not going to abandon it for sure, it's too fun

No, no, I'm not working at LEGO You know, I've always been a fan of LEGO, and once I started modeling bricks I could not stop Now I have a huge set of bricks in 3D and assembling them is really fun... but I'll try and do something else, maybe another guitar

This was one of my initial plans... but then I saw a lot of "real" LEGO gundams on brickshelf, they were so good that I was really astonished Some of them have a working cockpit for lego minifigs

Ehe, Internet is a small place after all
You have some excellent works in your gallery, really nice models! I'm getting back to fun CGI after a lot of time, I say "fun" because from two years ago I work as a CAD designer/optical engineer, so I never stopped doing CGI after all...
Anyway my sites now are:

good to hears from you .. and i love your valkyrie power site .. do you use Lightwave as well ? I need to learn a lot from you .. especially for the texture material .. i really love it ..

zpaolo In reply to shiningcin [2007-06-29 06:36:49 +0000 UTC]
I used Lightwave for all the Macross and Gundam rendering, but as far as modeling is concerned I sued a mix of Lightwave and solidThinking (excellent NURBS based modeler).
Now I'm re-planning my ZPlus model and I'm not sure if I'll go to full Lightwave or Pro/Engineer.
As far as materials are concerned I mainly used occlusion plugins like "Grit" to enhance the look of the model, but I must say that, having recently tested Lightwave 9.2, the new nodes material is way ahead of the standard one and really interesting

yes, it is .. Lightwave 9.2 is a long leap from Lightwave 9 ..The node is outstanding .. but still .. I don't understand too much yet ..
