Description Ask any denizen of the region of Bara Magna of the one creature to avoid, and the answers will most likely be Skrall, Vorox, Bacterra, Bone Hunters and Skorpio.
Then there is the name none will dare speak aloud; Arodul.
These rahi have troubled Spheris Magna since ancient times. They have only ever been encountered solitarily, and not even the most learned scholars knows of their origins.
The only one theory they can all agree upon is that thankfully, these creatures are few in number or they would have stripped the world of all life.
The scarcity of the reports themselves should be ignored, unless you consider that only survivors can report sightings, one wonders just how many beings failed to escape the jaws of the Arodul.
These creatures seem to exist only to devour the living, regardless of what it is.
One traveler who encountered an Arodul was pursued until he rode through a grove of Thornax plants. He then watched as the rahi stopped and devoured each of the plants right down to the roots, and then spent an hour tearing those out of the ground and stuffing them into its cavernous maw. Fortunately, the traveler realized his peril and fled before the creature noticed him.
Amongst the Bone Hunters, the teeth, and claws of an Arodul are symbols of great status, but the samples owned are not in the best condition, and those who are foolhardy enough to seek out new trophies have come back empty handed, if they return at all.
The Skrall are rumored to have encountered these rahi on several occasions, the first was accidental and left only three survivors out of a squad of twenty, the other encounters have been deliberate attempts at capture, often using groups of Agori as bait.
An Arodul appears as a humanoid creature with a large wedge shaped head. The top is covered with a row of bony plates, and has a mass of thick tendrils growing out the back. It is theorized that these may be sensory organs, as Arodul have no apparent eyes. Its jaws are large enough to hold and crush an Agori, and do significant damage to anything else it can get a hold of.
The lower parts of the arms are covered with a layer of bony armor and are each tipped with a pair of blades.
Growing upon its back like a misplaced tail, is a bulb-like growth. Aside from its jaws, this is the creatures’ most fearsome weapon as it can open up to fire a stream of highly corrosive acid, or unleash a jet of paralytic gas.
The best way to fight these creatures is not to unless you absolutely have to, and then only with some sort of explosive projectile.
