There is Never
The Dead Of Winter
When You Have A Garden

We got a little snow today, just a light dusting,
but enough to stick to my antique Snowball Hydrangea
that is 40 years old....

I'm in an apartment on 2nd floor with an attic
When it's cold they come in upstairs racing around and bedding down..

Funny when some one comes over...the freak out when the boys race across the ceiling

squirrels though...they eat everything, wires, insulation, blankets....

Yea I was worried about that too...told the management...they said where going to put poison up there...I said No Way... I still here them up there once in a while..the new owner wanted there access holes found and repaired he promised me No Poison..

Three years ago I had to replace the roof on my garage
and found 15 active nests in the eves of the roofline.

The work crew wanted to destroy the nests and kill the
babies so they could finish the work.Β  The squirrels trying
to protect the babies would charge at the workers and scare
them half to death.

I halted the work and told the squirrels they had to move
the babies and in 3 days I watched as all the mothers
moved every baby out of the garage and carried them to
my trees...

The work crew enjoyed their 3 days off and the babies were safe.
It was a win/win situation that only cost a little time and effort
for the moms....

It is good to hear that your new landlord is going about patching the
holes instead of poison...What most people don't realize is that the
poison does not just hurt the animal they are trying to get rid of,
the poison can be found by dogs, cats, birds, and any other wildlife
or small children who may find it and eat it also...

Peace

Great story...yes poison is never the way to stop or relocate animals..glad to hear..the moms listened and it was a win/win...you are wise M

sent you a note....This is my grandmothers hydrangea that is over 80 years old,
at least the root stock is.Β  I inherited it from my mother who inherited it whenΒ grandmother
passed on...It is a strong plant, even our winter of minus 55 below did not even bother it
one bit...My grandmother was a real tough cookie also....She also passed on the gardening
genes to me...Best gift EVER.......

My grandmother is my muse, she lived to be 90 and passed
away out in her garden...The perfect way to go, surrounded by
birds, trees, her flowers , while she was hanging out the daily
wash on the old fashion clothes line early in the morning...

No nursing home, no artificial life support, just her and her Maker,
going hand in hand to her new home and garden

thank you so much Mark
