Annie is a large woman with a large heart. Kind and dependable, but reckless and stubborn. Annie grew up on the stories of knights, elves and dragons, so naturally she wanted to make some adventures of her own. She has no reservations about throwing herself into danger and testing her strength, even when there’s a good chance it will fail. Her lack of foresight and her adamant will make talking sense into her nearly impossible. Through sheer luck, she always seems to make it out in mostly one piece every time. Her love of adventure is only rivaled by her love of company, as she is quite the social butterfree.
In the past, Annie was plagued by a guild she could not reconcile, no matter how much affirmation she received. She needed to be the pillar of strength others relied on, she had something to prove to them, yet she could never place what that something was until now - through her time in Raccolto, the Sceptile has unlearned many of the toxic beliefs and expectations placed on her by her father. She does not have to bear any burden, especially alone, and she can breathe easy now that this weight has been lifted from her shoulders. Annie has grown older and wiser.
History.
It was no secret that Tynan Danaher wanted a Torchic daughter. As an Infernape, nothing excited him more about parenthood than the thought of passing on the fire/fighting torch to his kin.
So you can only imagine the disappointment he felt when his daughter was born with a Treecko totem.
For Annie, her problematic home life was something she never truly understood as a child. She lived on a big farm known locally as the Danaher compound. In one house was her immediate family: her parents and three other siblings. In another, her uncle and her grandparents. Bickering was part of the daily routine for the Danahers. However, the most epic and common of spats were always between Annie and her father. The Treeko was pegged as a problem child early on and deemed too rowdy for school. Tynan thought it was better to keep her home and put that energy to use working on the farm. No one else in the family had the nerve to object on Annie’s behalf.
The grass type spent most of her childhood under her father’s thumb. In the day she worked out in the fields with him. At night, when her siblings came home from school, she was put in charge of their care. Her siblings were terrors on their own: Bia, second oldest, was constantly challenging her sister and leaving her with bruises and burns. Daphne, though tamer, was indifferent to Annie and frequently ran off on her own. Cillian was the easiest of all the siblings, but he relied on Annie for most everything. The only peace the four could find was in their D&D nights, held in secret at their Uncle Aza’s house. Every Friday, the siblings could put their troubles aside and bond over an old fashioned fantasy game.
But breaks like that were few and far in between, and the pressure was mounting as they all grew up. High demands caused Annie to evolve early, and by 16 she was a full-grown Sceptile. The premature change took a toll on her body and mind. Annie’s fights with Tynan became a little more real, more personal...she jumped at any opportunity to get away from home. Annie became the errand girl when it was time to deliver crops to Veilstone. She’d use the detour to take a look at the outside world through brochures and posters.
It was there she became fixated on a little island called Raccolto. This was her chance at escape. The Sceptile quickly took steps to secure her way to freedom. She planned to bring up her departure under the guise of expanding the family business overseas. But she wasn't careful, and Tynan discovered her plans. Annie was confronted about it over dinner, and the conversation grew heated in a matter of seconds. The siblings each reacted in their own, negative ways. Bernadette gave up almost instantly: she couldn’t deal with the fighting anymore. And Tynan was livid. So livid in fact, that he cursed Annie out and gave her the night to pack. Objections from any remaining family members were stomped out immediately. Each Danaher went off to cool down on their own.
Annie went upstairs and started packing. Before the sun rose, before her father could change his mind, she was out the door. By morning, she was on a ferry to Raccolto.
In Raccolto.
Life in her new home compared to life in Sinnoh was as different as night and day. Annie adjusted to her new autonomy with ease. She started strong with house repairs and new friends. With no flames licking at her heels, Annie discovered what life was like when she was allowed to breathe easy.
This newfound peace did not last long - a surprise visit from her father led to an explosive fight that put Annie under the flame and left her with a horrible scar. It taught her a grim lesson, she realized: there was no escaping your past. The journey to heal since then has been long and arduous, filled with emotional highs and lows. Friends come and go, though some faces linger and stay the night. Annie finds love in Midas Hale, and slowly but surely, she unlearns the lies she was fed from birth.
The effects of Annie’s trauma have cast a long, dark shadow on her path to recovery, but an extended visit away from home has let her find closure she sorely needed.
Annie returns to Raccotlo with a fresh outlook and a light heart.
Ability: Overgrow. Annie heals faster than usual. When Annie is severely hurt, overgrow fills her with adrenaline and makes her grass type moves more powerful.
Moveset: Annie learned moves that suited her love for sword fighting. Rough, but powerful in her technique.
Leaf Blade. Her signature move, sometimes she just uses her tail when she can't use her sword.
Night Slash. Annie disappears into the shadows and appears from behind, slashing her opponent.
Dual Chop. Replacing X-Scissor, Annie's draconic features are beginning to emerge as she grows into her totem.
Iron Tail. Replacing Aerial Ace, Annie stiffens her tail and strikes her opponent. She took the move to protect herself from mischievous fairies.
Job: Farmer
Farm Name: Farthing Fields
Cat Race: Purugly
Cat’s name: Duchess
Cat’s gender: Female
Caught red handed in the theft and consumption of Annie's food, Duchess was a stray who broke into Annie's kitchen for a treat. In her old age, her girth has increased 10 fold but her temper has calmed considerably. Annie’s sister Daphne has taken a shining to the beast, and she cares for her Duchess when she visits Farthing Fields.
Talents

DEX: 16. She's agile too, especially in fights.
CON: 17. Really resilient, which you can credit to her ability: overgrow.
Greater Weapon Fighting. Annie's a self taught swords-woman. Though a bit crude in style, she's naturally good at what she does (I mean look at how big she is).
Expertise. Annie's surprisingly good at math. It's basic now, but if she worked on it more...

Has an ever-growing scar collection, which is cool and terrifying at the same time:
--The Burn: A gnarly burn she got from her father. The circumstances around it are very complicated…

--Cryptid Scars: Little scrapes on her legs from spending time in the woods as a vampire and healing without the help of overgrow.
--Chomped Leaves: Two leaves on her tail that were bitten off by a spider. They never grew back because the bites were poisonous.

Starting to build up a weapon collection! She names them and has a story for each one:
--Alabaster: A long sword she made as a teen with her uncle’s help. The blade is cold steel, which protects her from mischievous fairies.
--Thorn: A dagger made from the spike off the back of a Tyranitar. She earned that spike on a visit to Midas’s home town, and she commissioned Henri to turn it into a blade.
--Marigold: A shortsword made by Midas for her as a gift. She picked the name for the blade’s warm hue.
