For Thursday Prompt: On Your Side , dedicated to my mother who, not only likes to take photographs of swans (we both appreciate their beauty), but embodies the nature of swans, too. The swan who paddles furiously to glide gracefully on the water is alike my mother who has worked hard with dedication, unseen, through all the trials of a first immigrant, without losing the positivity of life.
This is a 3D Modular Origami Swan with a 24-piece base, 8-level trunk, 21-level back and 29-level neck. No glue involved.

The individual pieces don't take long at all - a minute or two to fold. The assembly takes a lot longer - several hours at least. It helps to fold hundreds of the individual pieces, and then put it all together.

My pleasure! I haven't been around for about six months for a couple of reasons. I'm good but (or 'and'?) busy. If things go according to plan, I'll have my B.A. in art history ultimo August. How about you?

I think origami is awesome! I just wish I had more time to be creative with it. Sure, it doesn't take long to make the smaller modular pieces, but then you have to have a plan and build it all up. That takes time, effort and willpower.
With video tutorials, doing something like this is as easy as ever, but, of course, it's easy to say that. It takes a lot to actually do something about it.
I can understand that. I am likewise busy... or rather, things take precedence over DeviantArt. I value my reading time a lot more, and have prioritized other things as 'first'.
That's awesome to hear! Is everything going according to plan with regards to your BA? August will arrive next month, so time is flying by very fast.
I am hoping to get my US Citizenship next month, so that's something to look forward to... Otherwise, I'm pretty busy balancing the work/life balance. It's not like it was when I had a lot of free time back in my Uni days.

It fascinates me when people can make something complicated, yet elegant, with something as simple as a piece of paper. I can imagine, that it's time-consuming, but then again; a lot of creative processes are.
dA isn't a priority for me these days - too much work, a good portion of RL challenges as well, and then... well the forums during summer vacation!!!
Well, more or less. I just finished a report about digital aesthetics under the headline Digital Reality and Virtual Identity. Four more to go, and I have my BA. It's a lot of work, but I hope I'll make it.
Oh, and good luck with your US citizenship. I recall you telling once, that you intended to become a permanent resident.

It's really amazing how versatile paper is. That goes for a lot of things in our life - it's easy to take these things for granted, and yet they serve so many purposes.

Regarding the forums: It helps a bit, that the summer vacation is over, and a couple of new mods probably won't hurt. 
The B.A.: I had to postpone two exams - the pressure was too high, and I want to do well, so that's a six-month setback. I'll probably manage.

Yes, it's always been an issue - moderators in the forums. There are usually more in the chats than the forums, but I can understand that both are a bit quiet now, with the new design focused on other things.

In all the years I've been on dA I've only used chatrooms three times. Maybe they need more moderation? I don't know if you can call the forums quiet, but there has definitely been a change over the past few years, that makes them different from what they were some years ago. People have the usual complaints about why some threads are locked when others aren't etc. but the overall tone and forum use have changed a lot.
