This stamp is mostly made to give people an understanding about autism, people with it, and how rough their life can be in our society. If you're new to this disorder, or you want to know more about it, then feel free to read it.

Autism is a spectrum disorder, which means that people's brains who are on the spectrum are 'wired differently', and having some advantages, and disadvantages over a regular person. The symptoms can vary for every person with autism; for example, one can more easily have sensory overloads (which is, when one or more of the senses are overstimulated, like being in a noisy area for example), and have less social skills, but can still be very intelligent. Autism by the severity of these symptoms can either be specified as high-functioning, severe, or not being specified at all. Some of these symptoms aren't so obvious and easy to diagnose in an average person's lives (or to be simple, people on this spectrum not always 'look autistic'). In fact, there's a huge probability that you have a friend who you don't know that they are actually autistic. There are several well-known people in history and in present, who are diagnosed as on the spectrum, like Albert Einstein, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates to name a few. There's a comic on the Internet that explains the spectrum, and most likely better than I do.

The average lifespan of a person with this disorder is 36 years, and not because it's a so-called 'disease' or a 'disability' that is 'deadly'. It's because, in the sad reality, the lack of acceptance in the society. Because of the disrespect, discrimination, bullying and naming people with autism as lesser and "being uncapable of anything in the everyday life", most people on the spectrum commit suicide at a young age. Most of them are constantly under abuse and neglect, and not only by the young majority of people. Some university staff defame, or employers automatically dismiss people who are on the spectrum, just because "they're autistic". Since it's categorized as a 'disability', and people not being aware of what autism actually is, people treat it like how they treat people who are psychopaths, sociopaths, sadists, etcetera. People also use the word 'autism' and 'retard' to describe something that is stupid and makes no sense, thus not realizing how offensive and discriminative it actually is. Judging someone by their autism is at the same level as judging people by their race, sexuality, gender, or to be simple, judging people by something they can't help with. People with autism have feelings, even when they don't show it.

This stamp is also referencing AutismSpeaks (supposedly a charity organization for people on the spectrum), since their goal isn't about supporting people with autism, it's about finding a so-called 'cure' to autism, or to be more specific, finding a way to tell if a person will be autistic or not, in order to terminate them before they're being born. If you care about people on the spectrum, even a little bit, DO NOT support them! They don't help people with autism in any way!

If someone in the comments would ask, then yes, I have high-functioning autism. By being more aware of what autism actually is, I feel less ashamed of myself, and starting to accept myself the way I am. Two years ago, I was depressed about it for a week or so, because I though that not a single soul would accept me if they knew. This was because when I was in middle-school, I was constantly under abuse in middle school, calling me names, and making me cry, while people were laughing at me, because of my autism, and because I didn't know how to behave towards people. It was a personal hell for me. But since then, I got some friends when I graduated to high-school. But the best friends I've ever gotten are from this site, since I've never ever gotten any friends before, who are as understanding and friendly as they do.

And to my watchers; this stamp wasn't made to give vent. It's because I felt like this had to be done. Everything is fine with me, don't worry.

Also, I don't find this post as 'world-changing', because of obvious reasons. One reasons why, is that regardless of how millions of people have made awareness of autism, some people only listen to what they want to hear/read about it, and not to actual facts that are scientifically proven in many ways (for example, anti-vaxxers, who would rather see their child dead just to "not get autism by vaccines"). The other reason why is that obviously, not everyone in the world uses, or even heard about this site, since it's an art posting website, and not a discussion one like Reddit.
