During these years, I have always looked up to Final Fantasy characters as inspirations, as well as many other sagas. Both Zidane and Cecil didn't appeal to me at first.I remember discovering Zidane thanks to an AMV FFIX related and Dissidia back in 2008. I learned a lot about his story on the way until I got FFIX in 2014/2015 I think, and it totally charmed me. What a beautiful and splendid discovering back then!! I really admire Zidane's cheerful and determined personality, plus You're not alone moment... that was the most epic scene I ever watched and made me cry in front of the screen. You monkey boy, you shine like a Sun for everyone
As for Cecil, I discovered him in the original Dissidia as well. My first thought was: "oh, changing to dark knight and paladin? how curious". I don't know how but I managed to get FFIV for DS, I started it but it got forgotten xD don't ask me why. For several months, even years since 2015, I have been having more downs than ups, very rough times for me. I felt empty and lost, plus I regretted many things and had guilt. I felt the urge to play FFIV, and I decided to start playing it in February, if I don't remember bad. I thanked heavens for bringing me the most heartwarming and touching story of Cecil, helping me to regain myself and find everything that was lost for me, starting a new beginning. Lunarian Knight, you shine like the Moon, guiding with your light those who are in the dark. I owe you one, a big one indeed.
It's no wonder why I'm cosplaying both of them in a near future!
Sorry for the long speech xD I had to say it. Pls, play FFIV and FFIX, you won't regret it

It is about 17 years ago I've played last and it is a shame that I cannot remember most of Final Fnatasy IX - I can only remember some fragments.
Nonetheless, I experienced several FF-titles and FF IX is and will always be the best title amongst all the other games of Final Fantasy (speaking about every title is unique and wonderful in its own way)
Yet, FF IX has everything I like. The setting, the music especially, the story and all of the endearing characters you just like to give them a hug.
And Zidane is a character you cannot get mad at him really. I didn't mind that he even has a monkey tail x')
And for FF IV I can tell this is a little rare gem of the Final Fantasy series.
Actually, this was the least title I was interested in ... till I gave it a try haha x'D
I actually watched most of the FF-titles when my siblings played them and Final Fantasy IV was the very first title I played on my own. And it has conquered my heart from the beginning as I played the first hours.
I can tell almost the same. The story of Cecil is touching and heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time
And being a passionate moon worshiper it was really interesting to know that a bunch about the story and Cecil's origin has associations with the moon 
To me both Zidane and Cecil has also a special place in my fan's naive heart. I cannot tell it in more words... these are just great games and characters ;w; ♥
(and oh, of course, Final Fantasy XV is great, too. It has jupmed at the 3rd place of my top-favourite FF-titles

Totally agree, is unique in many ways. I wish it was more respected and considerated in the fandom. Zidane really gets into you

about FFXV, I still need to get into it more (doing secondary missions and such). Actually there is a tie of FFIV and FFIX in first place, then I don't know if X (childhood feels), XII (Ashe is my favourite female

Indeed, some titles are overshadowed by FF VII and FF XIII but still some titles are sweet little games
Sure, Zidane is a very special character.
He's swift, he's kind, he's determined, flirtatious 
And now here's the problem I dunno if I like Zidane or Cecil most D': Both are just too lovely!
Do you have a strategy guide? It's really helpful to get all the secrets here on FF XV
And indeed in FF XV there are a lot of allustions and easter eggs to other FF-titles
I even found an easter egg to FF X. About FF IX I didn't notice one kinda ...
I heard that FF VI is quite a great title, too. Gotta play it next soon.

I got the same problem as you D: both are too amazing to exist pffffffffffffft
for now I'm going on my own on XV but for other games I use guides hehe eue
FFVI has a lot of different characters to play as, plus I like learning magic from espers and equip them. I'm spending hours learning magic and leveling up on the way xD plus counterattacks makes the task easier because I'm overlevelled and I don't worry about the characters being killed. I do the same with FFXII with gambits, I can do other things while the characters are levelling up by theirselves, just perfect xDDD

I could tell the same. I spent so many times with sidequesting and exploring that I was a bit overpowerd, too in FF XV so it was easier for me, too but it was still challenging.
So .... if you're so powerful then you're even ready to take on the superbosses x'D
