Description just got a new computer (my last one died T^T ) so heres a practice doodle of a mermaid since it's mermay and all...
likely not actually gonna do mermay tho (partially cause im kinda late to the party...)

This is awesome, also nice pose. When drawing mermaids do you start from the head? where do you start? I want to know so I can a mermaid picture for a friend, details will really help. Thansk in advance.

when i draw pretty much any character i start off with a line of action and build stuff around that.  pretty much what that means is i have a pose in mind already and if u can imagine one line going through the entire body to describe the pose, then that is what u should put down first.  in the case of this mermaid, it would go down the extended arm, through the center of the body and in through the center of the tail.  from there, i would recommend u look up some basic anatomy and build off the rest of the pose.  i personally start from the torso (drawing in the ribcage first) then going into arms, then the tail, and then the head last.  after that it's just a matter of putting in the details.  also (even though i didnt really use any for this drawing) there is no shame in using references to help u out with posing and such as long as u dont copy the picture directly.
