Description Faith is a torment. It is like loving someone who is out there in the darkness but never appears, no matter how loudly you call.

I somewhat had this quote from Sevent Seal stuck in my head the whole day.

As for the picture itself, it's mostly a colour practice.

Sometimes, you burn heretics and witches and mutants, and it's all right. They are screaming madmen, cruel warlocks and loathsome beasts. They are monsters, and killing them is obviously good. Doing so feels righteous, and their torment fills you with vindictive pleasure as you avenge the suffering of their victims.

Sometimes, it's not so obvious.

Sometimes, the heretic is a gentle man who humbly suggests that the priests should spend less money on new cathedrals and more to help those in need. Sometimes, the witch is a kindly old woman, overlooked by the Tithes and the Black Ships, who has used her unsanctioned powers to heal the sick who cannot afford a proper medicae. Sometimes the mutant is a little girl who was born with three arms and big blue eyes, who cries for her mummy to wake up and pleadingly asks you why.

Sometimes, you question the wisdom of your Sister Superior, the Ecclesiarchy and the High Lords and sometimes, in your darkest hours, when you lie alone at night and the little girl's screams still echoes in your head, you even question the Emperor. You do penance for this of course, weeks of fasting, days of prayer, long hours of self-castigation to repent for your sin.

Sometimes, the pain and fatigue and constant praying helps you forget, puts your mid at ease, lets you sleep at peace.

But not always. And then you cry.

Well, that was incredibly spot on.
And helps me remember just why I love the Adepta Sororitas so much.

I'm speechless, they're is just so much conveyed in this image, I'm floored by the somberness of it, it actually moved me. Incredible, that's all I can say.

*sob*All I want...
is to hear your voice... Just once...
for you to call out my name... Just once...
for you to touch me... hold me... just once...

... just... once...

This is a painful and beautiful piece. I like that you can see the fresh AND pre-existing scars that give the character a sense of age and devotion

Faith may be a torment in 40k, but the alternative to it is by far way worse.

Wow, I love your use of shadows and colors in this.... I wish I were more of an illustrator like you, but I haven't got the hang of it....

Does all of this just come out of your imagination? Or do you have to look at, like a photo of someone in this pose first to get it so good like this?

i play dark heresy and trying to find an image that captures the self infliction the sisters do was a impossible thing tell now. i love the colors, gives a look that i havent seen in quite a while. You can feel the pain she is in from the sight (though slightly hidden) of her back. Overall awsome job
