For some reason. The left mosquito looks like a plague doctor.
did you really meant that to draw because the Black plague killed thousands of people the same as mosquitos killing thousands of people till this day?

Here's why....
One night I was drawing and there were lots of mosquitoes. So had I thought, "what if it was HK?".
While I was browsing HK NPCs, I just realized that Cornifer and Iselda are based on mosquitoes.
Cornifer reminds me of Plague Doctor because of the proboscis.
And that's how I ended up drawing a plague doctor mosquito.Β

Bugs technically have what is called hemolymph. It functions similar to blood, but it does not have the same chemical make up, and hemolymph is not viable for mosquito consumption, since it is far less nutritious than hemoglobin, which is very rich in iron. Hemolymph on the other hand, is mostly water and protein. Technically mosquitoes are herbivores. The only reason any of them suck blood, is so they can use it as fertilizer for offspring. They don't really use the blood for themselves. Males do not consume blood, only females, since they are the ones with the capacity to make babies. Most mosquitoes consume nectar and fruits.
So if you are a fellow insect, I think you can trust these fine folks. If you are a mammal, stay away from the ladies. They can be very sassy!
