BLOOD WOUND!
I think game visual effects for blood magic suck: you put gore all over the place and then make blood magic like a telekinetical attack? Non that I wanted something splatter, but, hey! I wouldn't mind omething a little more scenic...
Seriously, how many of you would expect that Jowan would have knocked out Cullen all by himself?
uhm... "all by himself"... let's say with a little suggestion... just a little hint...

This is a fan comic based on the Bioware's videogame "Dragon Age: Origins" and expansions. All characters and characters design except those not fitting the game belongs to Bioware, Ewan is designed on a customizable Player Character so he doesn't belong to anyone but as concept to me, the story is mine so it's not official, no copyright infringement is intended so don't bother me about it.

Jowan (and Ewan) would have never used blood magic, but Ewan knew Cullen was expecting something from him (he dispelled Arcane Magic right when he cast it...) so Jowan was the only one who could act freely (as Cullen was engaged into a conversation with Ewan) and blood magic was the only thing Cullen couldn't see coming and couldn't dispel.
I'm glad you like that panel, this was one of the first images I thought when I started to work on the project (along with the scene in Recliffe, the blood flashback and most of the third chapter

Ouchies, poor Cullen! Love the effects you did on this! When first glimpsing the part of the comic where Cullen came in, for a bit, I thought he was Greagoir. oo; It was likely because his hair looks rather gray here. That, and his beard.

It's the same thing I thought when i frist draw him: sabby, sick and with a long beard he really looks like Greagoir... also the tone I'm using doesn't help, anyway I think he'll shave soon if he wants to remain in this comic...

I can tell you he's not dead without spoiling: Jowan is good at blood magic, but not SO good, and even if he were he didn't want to kill him, as you have seen, otherwise he would have strike hard and first, without staying for two pages (and 17 panels) with a sword at his troath...

You did a great job with the blood magic, I would loved that in the game (especially after seeing the Jowan-using-blood-magic cutscene xD).

Thank you. I tried many possible solution for the blood magic and yet none completely satisfied me until I have used this. Maybe is a little "too much", but as Ron said in the first chapter, Blood Magic "is messy".
