Description
People always rejoice at other people’s disasters, forgetting that other people’s trouble is their own. In accordance with the classical dictum that all human weaknesses are in fact elements of the secret humanity that makes man a miserable creature worthy of sympathy, I have always had the weakness of sympathizing with everything that is human.

Hatred comes from the heart; contempt from the head; and neither feeling is quite within our control...if a man sets out to hate all the miserable creatures he meets, he will not have much energy left for anything else; whereas he can despise them, one and all, with the greatest ease. Humans and human nature, when viewed in a society contest, cannot escape being criticized for their collective actions are often cruel and insensitive .
