Vikings didn't have noserings, or dreadlocks. Those are modern degeneracy things.

Vikings coamed their hair and did not shave their body, they were real men not controlled by women.
But the shoot is excellent!

Uh, actually, women DID control part of daily life. A rather large part of it. They ran the household, were believed to know how to spend money correctly (Thus being trusted with the gold and coins and such), and could divorce their husbands. Viking women were real women in my opinion. So I'm proud of being descended from the Scandinavian area.

In the context you describe, I agree. They were real women. They were nothing like modern Scandinavian women.

What? At first I thought that ''oh, this is an stupid and sexist man who clearly has never been in Scandinavia'' and then I see that you're from Denmark? Seriously? I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
Β Is a woman nowadays not a ''real woman'' simply because she doesn't live a thousand years ago, saying to her husband that ''good job, you will be welcome in Valhalla when you die because you killed those horrible Christians''? None of the things Magdelene-Rose described has magically disappeared trough the years?Β
I would love to hear your reasons for thinking the way you do.Β
Also, please refrain from saying that all women are the same. We most certainly isn't.

No no no. Its not like that. We always cherished our strong and independant women.
Bu they have grown so strong now, they are controlling it all.
Making us fall apart as a nation and as lovers.
If you lived here, you'd see what misery it leads to.
I am not a sexist, nor will i defend myself of any accusations of that kind.
My strongest argument would be, us men controlled the world for centuries. Look, what that lead to.
Now, women are taking over and they wont stop until they become like we were.
Somebody should put their own feelings aside and think in a bigger perspective, listen to the eldars and the past.
Learn from our mistakes.

Women are by no means ''controlling it all''. I don't know if you live in a bubble, but women still earn only 70% of a mans pay, and there is still arguments as ''she deserved it, look what she was wearing'' when it comes to rape. This world is still being controlled by men.Β
When women and men will be equal I doubt that women are going to ''take over'' and turn the old patriarchy to a matriarch. People ARE (believe it or not) already thinking of a bigger perspective and learning from old mistakes.

The Hammer of Thor... And beautiful markings on the side.
The beads really add effect to the hair, and I'm glad to see that there isn't a stereotypical horned helmet.
I should get to the Viking festival some time.

I don't think Vikings sported dreadlocks. That's typically African, no?

The dread lock appears when you dont clear your hair a long time, or artificially. The Viking can have dread lock because your long time far from the shower, river, whatever.

the scarring tattoos are awesome, but I don't think the dreadlocks work, (mishmash of cultures and definitely looks Bob Marley). Also, archeologists have discovered that vikings were very well groomed and have found many combs for hair in burials and other sites, this is very common to find, and they even found tools for cleaning and beautifying finger nails. It would also take several months at sea for unkept hair to even come close to dreadlock and they were sailing short distances, not to Australia!

Reconstruction is only a hobby, festivals usually don't mind hair being dreadlocked, or dyed crazy colours. Same with piercings. It's all stuff that you wear all the time, you can't just take it off for a weekend.
In fact I know even two vikings of an african ancestry ;D One is from Poland, and the other one I've had a brief chance on encountering at a farewell ceremony of the jarl of Jomsborg.Β
So you see these type of things aren't an issue. You can have fun re-enacting whoever you are, and whatever long term mods you have. Just make sure your apparel is actually historical.
