if the trio of pokemon dogs are actually cats, i can see tht somehow.entei is like a lion and raikou a tiger or saber-tooth tiger.but then, what it Suicune? a leopard?

Entei is actualy based on the Chinese Lion statues, which are based off of Dogs. So.....Dogs.

indeed it is, or of close relation to a cheetah. It's diamond markings support this.

Yeah- i kinda imagined them to be based on 'foo-dogs' or something- lion dogs if i remeber rightly. It's hard to tell.
