Here's a companion piece, more or less, to the image I posted yesterday: [link]It's another interior illo I did for White Wolf's RPG Exalted, back circa 2009 or so, this time depicting the character "Anja Silverclaws." Rowrrr! (Medium: 3B or 4B 2mm pencil lead on linen-finish cardstock.)
The illo's marred by a strange error that I can't quite explain: Her leg doesn't line up with the rest of her torso in the manner it should, as it's too far "down" in relation to the rest of her. Odd. Well, I'll post the rough version of this piece shortly; we can then see if the error was latent from the beginning, or was something that stealthily crept into the finished version. One might notice a bit of similarity to the feline character Artemis from Shirow Masamune's manga Appleseed; given that I drew her for a few covers on the American reprint of the manga (and for quite a few con sketches for furry fans, back in the day), this isn't entirely surprising.

As usual your depiction of a female super heroine is both hot and well done (despite the leg thing, which heck I can't even see.) So congrats on another fine work good sir.
I always liked that Empowered complained about how much working out she had to do to be a hero. You rarely see that side of it with these type of characters in comics.

I think its very cool. I played Exalted and saw your art there but never really knew who you were or anything until I started reading your Empowered comic. Then one day at an Exalted game I made the realization that I had been a fan of yours even before Empowered.

For some reason the leg placement is not so apparent in this version as it is in the rough. And I will agree with you on the Masamune Shirow thing - when I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was one of his characters, which is always a good thing.

Stunning work! As it usually happens, I never noticed the leg error until you mentioned it. Even with that, it honestly just looks like her leg is a bit sideways towards the viewer, rather than simply being too far down. Looks great either way!
I'd like to echo vladdamien's request, but for colors; I'd love the chance to put some color on this, if it's all good by you.

I can't imagine he'd have any trouble with you coloring it. Posting the colored version perhaps, but even that would likely be okay, provided you weren't trying to pass it off as your own work, and linked back to the original. Of course, I could be wrong.
I was also thinking that such a beautiful, high-res b&w piece practically screams to be colored!

Honestly, I wasn't even paying attention to the resolution, which is amazing. I'm used to coloring everything from hi-res to low-low-low res, so I was just excited by the lines.

AW is one of those artists who seem terrified that people may actually want to do something with a high-rez version of their art (such as use it for a computer backdrop, or even print it out and put it on their wall) so they tend towards very low-rez postings. Which is a shame.
I doubt he's actually *losing* revenue when people appropriate his work. I suspect it simply galls him that he's lost some small measure of control over it. We artists can be cantankerous sorts!

And of course, if he's doing a piece of art for a client, it makes sense that the one who paid for the piece is the only one getting the high-resolution version of it. If even one person takes the hi-res picture and does something with it, it's lowering the value that the client is receiving. So I can definitely understand that!
