Description If you think people with radios talking to each other over long distances is dead. Think again. While 'old' radios (such as pictured) are dying - figuratively and literally. New type of radios that are fully digital quite powerful are being used in great numbers. In fact the fun part of radio is not just that you can talk to people but the fact that you can make and build technology that you see (sometimes in movies). Newer communications systems use video and the internet to link people around the world. If you haven't thought or seen much about ham radio. Take a look, you might be surprised.

As for this old radio, its last operational date was sometime in the 1990's being built sometime in between the 1960's and the 1990's.

The focus I was aiming for in this shot, feel free to complain if you don't feel this way, was to the microphone its self. To signify the communication.

Ham radio rocks! I've never done HF stuff(the kind of atmosphere-bouncing, world-wide stuff that transceiver was built for), but I still have my license.

Yeah it is fun! I haven't done any of those things either, and especially with this radio which was not even mine.
