[ PERSONALITY ]
Yuri is a very difficult person to describe, never seeming to remain static in xyr personality beyond the ever present optimism bubbling over like boiled sweet milk - and just as good. Xey are lively and hard to keep still, both excited by the presence of others and constantly seeking them as well; having always been this way, xe has always been more than a handful in xyr childhood and even moreso in xyr adolescence. Free-spirited and wild, Yuri is happy to flitter about from one thing to another and sometimes not finishing whatever it was xe was doing. After all, xey can get back to it later. Being the type of person to interact constantly and heavily with huge groups of people, Yuri has a natural talent for organisation and memory, and a good instinct on what people do and don't like...even if you didn't know it was one of those things you would have liked. Extremely interpersonally intelligent, Yuri makes friends quickly and easily no matter where xey go. Regardless of the reasoning, Yuri is the kind of person who desperately and profoundly needs to feel the pulse of wherever xey are - every city has a heartbeat, and xyr goal is to bring it out. Yuri likes to make the joke that xyr bright colours are secretly a mating display when paired with xyr dancing (and if you were to ask if it worked, you would get a very sincere "yes") Xey can be extremely vain and are absolutely prideful of themselves and xyr skills with others and xyr profound sense and understanding of kinesthetic motion and spacial awareness. Yuri can be manipulative, but xey are often an honest individual, but hey if you can tell what someone would like or want sometimes it is easiest to reach your goals with a little bit of silver tongue, now isn't it? This also leads in to the fact that xey are a massive opportunist...a skill which would be far more useful is xey were a more patient person.

[ BIOGRAPHY ]
Having grown up in a large family, Snapback was one of many children - xey knew Fedora only briefly before xyr brother branched off with his company (being at least a decade older, though Yuri will not say his age), but he had made an impact on the young character. The family had always known xey were a little "odd", but had treated xem well anyway. Working with the other siblings, Yuri developed a strong work ethic and moral character, being a loyal, hardworking, and honest child who would give what xey could to others less fortunate than xey, traits xey picked up from xyr elder brother. Xey don't recall the time that Fedora's company was co-founded, or built, or much all of any of that really, but xey do recall him having fucked off and only popping by periodically afterwards...and the sudden move from the favelas to the Southern sector of Rio de Janeiro. The sudden affluence wasn't anything the child noticed in xyr youth, but it became more apparent to xem as they aged, and xey didn't care for it...no, something about that felt binding and unreal, like the kind of lie you hear whispered but can't tell what's wrong, only that it is.

On the bright side of this strange turn, xey had been enrolled in dance classes and rapidly grew to dominate their lessons, finding a passion and love in the art of dance. Samba was a favourite, but xey explored many styles as they learned and performed on the streets just for fun. Whatever xey earned xey would donate to charities and local nonprofit organizations, having met fellow children over the years who lived in the favelas. Yuri's soul hurt seeing the situation in the slums - the cartels, the gangs, the orphaned families, the violence...everything under the nose of literally one of the New Seven Wonders, Christ the Redeemer. Everything screamed wrong to xem about this picture, and at 13 xey had dropped out of proper schooling and worked as a dancer and later an instructor full time in the hopes that xey would hit it huge and be able to change something. Anything. It was around the same time that xey had become very aware that xey didn't seem to fit the gender presentation or behaviours which pervaded xyr surroundings and began to adopt the "êla/êlas" pronoun system, which in xyr mother tongue was an equivalent to the English "they" system...it wasn't quite right either, but xe could handle something neutral in comparison. Yuri never quite felt like either gender, but damn it if xey could describe what it was xey did feel. Yuri had encountered a fair bit of LGBT+phobic behaviour in xyr life, and xyr contacts with those children from the favelas came to be useful at this point, where xyr friends had taught xem the art of capoeira and hand to hand combat, along with a little bit of work with firearms (and driving! but that is a story for another day entirely) which in one instance had actually saved Yuri's life.

As Yuri had begun their career as a dancer at a very tender age, xey used xyr interest in dance to throw xemselves headfirst into the loud culture of Brasil, having fallen in love with the vibrancy and energy inherent to Carnivale and Reveillon, and volunteered extensively for these events, organising smaller sections of them and for two years having participated so strongly in Carnivale that xey had hired a crew to build a float and choreographed a mass of dancers. The same applied for Reveillon, but in terms of anticipating what groups needed for the New Years celebration, running across the Copacabana sands making a pretty penny while hired hands were setting up fireworks and providing music.
If Yuri was anything, it was hands-on.

And the last straw for xem was the dismal treatment of the Brasilian people when the World Cup took reign over Rio, the government's questionable behaviour only stretching further for the imminent Olympics. Trillions were being spent on stadiums and beautifying an already gorgeous city for what, tourists? While people were living in the favelas? No. Fuck that. That was enough. Yuri was well aware that xyr mother wouldn't notice xyr disappearance for some time - having always been a child to wander off and couchsurf with friends or strangers for a week or two at a time - and thus decided to pack up and go. If the mother didn't need an explanation, neither would the siblings. They would survive without xem. This, Yuri knew. And so, xey set foot to Daten - xey knew xyr brother was there, things would pan out....eeeeeven if xey didn't have papers. A fair bit of savings and two months walking on foot across all of South and Latin America on xyr own (with the occasional assistance of a driver, or trainsurfing, or getting horrifically lost in the Amazon, or dodging drug cartels, or well a lot of things really it really is quite a story.), Yuri arrived in Daten.
From here? Xey plan to help xyr brother out with his work - something about xyr organisational skills being extremely useful for all the work being done with the scientists? Whatever, nerd stuff really. First things first, get the chato gringos something interesting. Daten was untapped territory - if xey could make xemselves a name here and get the parades and party culture rolling anything like Rio's, Yuri feels xey would be set to help the favelas, financially, and maybe even repair them if xey got big enough to do this for multiple cities.

After all, why ask for money when you could make it yourself?
