Description My second 3D lifecouter for Magic the Gathering. It didn't turn out so well, the quality is crappy, and the couting beads are too small. It has several levels, unlike the previous one.
I already have plans for the next one, here's hoping it'll turn out better.
If someone likes it though, it is certainly for sale or art trade. Send me a Note if interested!

This is pretty cool. Too bad it's too thick to use in your library. :/

I used a paper clip, and any kind of bead that has big enough holes for the wire of the clip. Good luck, and I hope you'll show me the outcome when it's ready!

All of yorr problems have been answered and/or discused in said threads. Also: BUY MORE RAZORS! In this day and age, they cost 3 dollars for 200. That will solve a lot of your problems.

Ok, maybe I will. But since I seldom do this kind of crafting, and I'm not doing it for sale (but IF someone likes what she sees, I say why not sell it), I don't see problem with a few less than perfect outcomes. So yes, I'll try and improve, but it won't be my first priority.

Eh, I've seen (first attempts) better than this. Mainly its the white. Try running a marker or pen along the white edges. Also, use a VERY sharp knife when cutting. You can blend layers you know. Look at the two threads located onn mtg salvation in the artwork and tutorials section. One of the users has an EPIC braids, conjurer Adept!

I'm afraid it's not so good, yea. I use exacto knives, but they aren't sharp enough I think. I have to press them really hard, and cut a line several times to get through the card (very high quality paper, gotta admit that). The layer-blending is something I didn't want to experiment with yet, simple things first. Maybe I'll try tracing the edges with markers, I don't know if they add to the effect, or just spoil the whole thing... I tried cauterizing them with a soldering tool, but it barely showed (in exchange for a lot of work).
I'll browse the aforementioned threads, thanks for the tip.

Fair warning: most of the links are broken and you have to plow through OHMYGODWORDSWORDSWORDSWORDSWORDSWORDS. But the return is well worth the effort.

This is really amazing! You should make a tutorial/how to for this imo. Or sell them.

Maybe I'll make a tutorial. Good idea, thanks.
Well, this very piece is for sale too, as a matter of fact, if you're interested.

I am interested. Both in learning to make my own and in purchasing this one. How much were you looking to get for it? Hmm... You are in Hungary and I am in the US. Not sure I could afford the shipping...

aequinox In reply to General-EbonRose [2010-12-15 09:17:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the shipping is the catch, I'm afraid. Otherwise I'd be ok with around 15 bucks or so.
