Well... that WIP is finally complete. And you all thought I'd be doing it on the computer... hahaha...I worked on it for about 6 months, 4 hours once a week or so. All (cheap) acrylics on a textured wall that was once a post office.

Although Sephiroth has only one black wing on his right, he's awesome looking with two different wings!
Also, I should note that you did some interesting composition of the piece; like his hair is forming into the black materia. That catches my eye right away.

I love the idea, too... but I love the one that's in my head. I feel like the shading didn't add enough depth. The feathers in front should JUMP OUT of the wall and the feathers deeper inside the wing should fade backwards. I am by no stretch of the imagination a master of shading.
I do like the Meteor, though. A lot of people thought I was doing a Sailor Moon -esque crescent moon in the bg. Oh, how wrong they were. The glow around Black Materia was half intended and half accidental and all cool.

I think the wings dont look the way you want because the inside is as light as the out. It still looks great!

Honestly... I was going to go with white wings, but I ran out of the dove grey I was using for white (pure white isn't interesting). So, rather than mix some more and risk it not matching, I decided to go with a charcoal grey that definately doesn't match. It does, however, illustrate what I've believed about him all along: he is neither good nor evil by nature. Sure, he's done some evil things, but he was also a hero before all this. Is he really evil? No... that's called madness. Is he really good? No... he's made too many poor decisions in his life. What does that make him?

No real critique. It looks awesome, and I can just imagine how much better it looks in real life. The proportions look good, and his wings are.....awesome. I can only imagine that it dominates the area in which you did it. Keep up the good work!

Indeed it dominates! It can be seen across the parking lot, it's so big. The shopping center is roughly U shaped, with the shop in the back left corner. In the back right corner is their old (smaller) location. The front window has random anime characters painted up there. Cowboy Bebop, DBZ, His and Her Circumstances, Totoro, and Inuyasha to name a few. But whoever painted it was "professional", and we all know what that means. They don't get anime. They're just copying pictures as fast as they can to make a buck. Therefore, there's no spirit to them (and they're slightly skewed) and don't stand out quite so much.
I should take pictures.

No, really... it's like 6' tall and reaches almost all the way to the celing. It's insane. I was sitting on the top of the ladder for the better part of the summer and most of the fall. YAY! It was fun, though.
